In case you didn't know, the next generation Camaro will be built on the same platform as the current ATS and upcoming CTS. This means that the 6th gen Camaro will be much lighter, nimbler, while having quite the parts bin to pick from. Alpha, Alpha + and Alpha "lite" will all be equipped to handle turbo 4, twin-turbo V6, and all variations of the Gen V V8 as well as the upcoming 8-speed auto and most likely the 7 speed manual trans.

Actually, the 30,300 is without destination. I just went to build a Mustang GT to fit the same spec as an 1SS, and it comes in at 33,590, $55 dollars more than a base 1SS.

Happy to hear production is moving to the US. There is a lot of chatter about the additional engine options which I think it pretty interesting. Any idea how it will look or will it be much of the same (since it's been a success) but just smaller?

you can put the best and the coolest technology into anything you want...but when it goes into something as hideous as the new ''camaro'' then it doesnt really matter. this is probably the reason they killed the G8 in america for a few years. who in their right mind would buy a new camaro when its the same thing as the g8, and the g8 looks better and has way better interior room.

I never cared for the new design. It's not based on the F body platform which I've come to love. Being built off an Australian design just doesnt say USA muscle to me. It's like GM is saying they really never wanted to design a new camaro. They just used an existing platform and raided the parts bin. I think the 5 gen front looks great, while the back looks like a bad attempt at a retro look of a 67 or 68. Just plain ugly back there. I love the 4 th gen look the best by far. They should continue where that left off. Anyway, this thread is way off topic. Isn't it about the car being made in the good ol U.S. of A.? Not if a rustang is cheaper than a maro,lol .

There is no such thing as an "f-body platform". that is just internal gm designation. the first 4 gens are all f-bodies but they share little in common. actually the 3rd & 4th share rear suspension and floor pans, but that is about the extent of the 'shared platform'.

"X-body" meant a 396/375 Nova SS at one point, and a Chevy Citation at another.
"A-body" meant a 454 LS-6 Chevelle SS, and later on an a 4 cyl FWD Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera.

The F platform was laughably dated at the end. You know that "cat hump" in the passenger floor? It was put there in 1974, and stopped being useful well before 2002.

If that's not a bad enough example, look at everything that 4th and 3rd gens can share. Do you really think it's acceptable for two cars, seperated by 20 years, to share the same parts?

while im glad they will be producing the camaro here in the USA, im not sure if that is a good or bad thing only the future will tell. since some of you seem to think the new camaro is ugly or to much plastic or whatever, that is a matter of opinion. i don't like that i cant hang my arm out the window in comfort, but i do know it is better than driving any foreign piece of garbage. having owned numerous camaros of all years, i like my 4th gen the best not that it is perfect or anything but it has decent power its comfortable for me. i also like my chevelle even better, what it lacks in power ( for now ) it has styling that i like. another point is warranty, dodge actually needs there lifetime along with hyndai and most manufactures today being that parts are being made so cheaply today. i really do not get why people are bashing a car to be produced here that more than likely hasn't even gone through a final design. i do not like cookie cutter cars, i miss the days when you could tell what kind of car was coming, even by it's headlights.

First off, Australia has a longer and stronger history of muscle cars than American has. Think of Australia as America if the 70's didn't happen. Ford, GM(Holden), Nissan all have rear-drive, V8 powered cars, including coupes, sedans, wagons, and utes. America? Home of the pick up truck and the Camry.

As for not-American-made, the Challenger would be based on a modified version of an old Mercedes chassis and the Mustang can trace its origins of development from a joint-venture with Jag.

That point is moot right now since the last few years the camaro was the cheapest option to own a car with an LS motor in it. I'd actually love to see what the trade in rates are on new camaros once the new SS comes in...that is if they do it right with an aggressive styled front end on it like the middle eastern lumina ss....but most likely theyll just drop it with the corporate boring front fascia :(

you can buy a gto then. last lumina coupe i remember seeing around was based off that. the one im talking about is a 4 door coupe like the g8 with a chevy front end and awesomely sporty spoiler. they need to bring this badboy here.
