Whats the over/under on this?

Jersey Mike 09-30-2014 02:25 PM

Vegas currently has it somewhere around Overpromised/underdelivered

Blackbirdws6 09-30-2014 02:37 PM

What's actually left?

Jersey Mike 09-30-2014 04:02 PM

Exhaust, trans cooler, TCC Solenoid, Catch Can, fender liners, splash guards, headlights, connect interior harness to everything in the car, fit and adjust body panels, weld in 2 floor patches and then subframe connectors, interior, front swaybar, paint it.

I think "that's it..."

Blackbirdws6 09-30-2014 04:11 PM

So like a weekends worth of work. Not bad.

xrelapse13 10-02-2014 12:10 PM

so it will be out in a few years.. shweet!

chrisfrom nj 12-02-2014 11:02 PM

mike did you ever finish the car yet

MyFirstZ 04-02-2015 08:48 PM

Going back home to get the interior put back in and some wheels and tires. Car runs and limps around, exhaust needs to be a little more secure and not hitting anything before we can push it.

You know, I had zero intention of bumping this thing until it looked prettier... You must be very bored tonight

Yes, interior is going back in. When Mr. Grazi's appointment book opens back up, the carpet will come back out and the floor patches (courtesy of V) and the subframe connectors shall get welded on. I'm debating sound deadening some of the car, at that time (on the fence). In the interim, I'm going to try my hand at lining up body panels and tightening up panel gaps, and making that all out prior to paint.

Big thanks to MyFirstZ for the help in man hours these last couple months. It's been a roller coaster!

MyFirstZ 04-02-2015 09:36 PM

Lol sorta I was going through pictures

ThoR294 04-03-2015 06:10 AM

Ugh those v6 tails lol

sweetbmxrider 04-03-2015 06:56 AM

Nice man, you should do the retro tails look with them. There's a thread on ls1tech.

LTb1ow 04-03-2015 06:59 AM

I have a roll of sound deadening adhesive stuff, if you are interested. Intended to use it on mine and then, #racekar

Blackbirdws6 04-03-2015 07:12 AM

Progress is progress!

Jersey Mike 04-03-2015 07:30 AM

I have my LS1 honeycombs that will go on. I've kept the V6 tails and wheels on for the time being, as there is no need to put the nice stuff on until after the car has been properly painted. Let this stuff get banged & nicked up, no poops given. Granted, I will be temporarily throwing the real wheels and tires on for a final alignment, but they'll be coming off thereafter.

Matt, if I decide to go that route I'll reach out to you. Thanks.

Since the thread is already on the radar, I may as well update a few things. Just rattling a few things off the top of my head:
  • Alignment done. Steering wheel no longer upside down.
  • BLS headlights are fired up. Granted, I'll have to make 'em nice one of these nights via new lenses, shrouds, alignment & wire hiding. But, they look purdy after dark!
  • It's remarkable how much quieter this car is with a full catback on vs open-Y.
  • I have a tune file from Keith ("The Bishop") to throw on in the interim, to get the new Yank SS3600 properly acclimated. "Creeper" will be uploading it one of these days via his HPTuners software. Mainly just copying the trans tables over, to adjust for the addition of the converter. Will let a TTP/Cartek/Other do the final tune in due time.
  • We have brakes! ...Like, all of them! New rear lines, deleted the 4-channel stuff, new emergency brake cables, and a 3-Channel ABS block to go along. Still have to scan, diagnose & eliminate the "BRAKE" and "ABS INOP" lights that are on the cluster.
  • What's this "Service Vehicle" light? I'm working on it, car. Gimme a break! (Serious: Tips on scanning that? Standard OBDII wouldn't read that light, correct?)
  • Gotta re-check the "Service Engine Soon" light. Last I recall, it's for the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid, which I have stupidly forgot to install all those times the car was on the lift. Doh!
  • B&M 70264 transmission cooler needs to go on. Any one have a preferred pictorial they'd care to share?
  • Sway bar, new endlinks, new bushings all are on once again.
  • I somehow managed to make a TSP adjustable ORY fit on ARH 1 7/8" LTs. I don't know how or why this worked, but halleujah.
  • Tie Rod ends were more FUBARd than Mario WSSEX's car, so they were replaced prior to alignment. God bless you, Anthony. Guy did that one on his own--I wasn't even in the same state when that one happened
  • Seatbelts are about to go back in, likely early next week.
  • I noticed an oil drip last week while the car was on the lift. New pan & gasket were put on prior, so I'll check the OPSU and double-check the torq on the pan bolts. I noticed some oil on one of the starter bolts, so likely the source is higher up on the motor--Crossing every finger & toe I have that it's not a Rear Main Seal.
  • Stock valve covers are on, in lieu of the shiny polished ones, until the new Mighty Mouse polished catch-can goes on, down the road. (the polished ones do not have the rear PVC elbow that the my 2000 LS1 covers came with. I suspect these originally came off of a 5.3L) :bertstare:
  • I'd be an a-hole if I stopped here & ordered some CTS-V brakes, or a H/C/I package right now, right? ...Right? Please say "Right."
  • New weather stripping needs to go on around the T-Tops & Hatch. Any adhesive/paste/sealer that you guys recommend I apply, while installing?
  • This is never ending.

LTb1ow 04-03-2015 07:34 AM

Is it a 3 channel rear end?

Yup. "Got a good deal on it!"

...then negated every ounce of "savings" when I had to buy an ABS block & fancy new lines. Is there a "Growing Pains" emoticon on this site yet? No? There should be.

LTb1ow 04-03-2015 07:44 AM

Why would you waste time and effort with installing another OE ABS system...?

Prop valve and new brake lines all around, less than $100.

sweetbmxrider 04-03-2015 07:52 AM

Is the service vehicle light the oil change reminder light? As in hold trip reset and turn key to run/not running and hold for 10?

Did you swap out the EBTCM for an EBCM? electronic brake traction control module

Are the pinouts the same?

I don't know if it's an oil change reminder, as that's not something I had considered, but we'll find out after I try that out!

As for the ABS Block: Off memory, here at work, I don't recall if the 3-channel block I purchased came with it's own EBTCM (er, it would be a EBCM in that case, I imagine?), or if I reused my 4-Channel one. My gut tells me the former, but I should still have the original at home for reference. I'll double check this as well.

I appreciate the tips! I forgot how nice it is having multiple perspectives attacking an issue.

LTb1ow 04-03-2015 08:37 AM

Not sure if LT1 later model stuff (which had 4 channel ABS ASR etc) is similar to the newer standard issue 4 channel LS1 stuff, but, I know on my car, the system propagates into the main body harness. Its not just a plug and play switch.

sweetbmxrider 04-03-2015 08:51 AM

Ya and the EBCM is under the dash. Silver box.

MyFirstZ 04-03-2015 11:14 AM

The the service vehicle soon is the pump the pedal 10ish times with key on for oil change mike
