The big, brawny performance sedan—which Mark Reuss, president of General Motors North America, has called a “four-door Corvette”..

Forbes actually is the one that is calling it the Ultimite SS..

Mike 03-07-2013 06:14 PM

I am not hating on it. I will not buy one but I do think its a nice car and if it were named something other then SS I would really have no problem with it. I still wouldnt buy it but would not be giving it so much crap.

you mean if they had given it a NEW name... any rebranding of an old nameplate on this car would draw even more crap than calling it ss

IDK.. If they stopped the impalas and renamed this car the Chevy Impala, I would not have an issue. They could even add a SS version later on with more HP and what not. A new name all together would have been best, in my opinion. I just look at the Trailblazer SS, and the Camaro SS, and the old school Nova SS, Chevelle SS, and now the SS..

It has the most boring face possible now so I guess Nasty has already put his money down.

BonzoHansen 03-07-2013 07:01 PM

i just want to see it in person before I like or not. And the name thing just bothers me, but that is minor.

I am the demographic for this.

LOL

PolarBear 03-08-2013 08:11 AM

I would buy this car, if a manual transmission was an option. I see it as a logical next choice from the CTS (V), more affordable than the V and I still get a V8

Slow-V6 03-08-2013 08:52 AM

So far none of us GM Car enthusiasts will be waiting @ the dealership to buy this car. Most people have a issue whether if its the way it looks, not having a MT, price, ect. GM designed this car with Car guys in mind but none of us are going to buy it. I am sorry to admit it but from the way I see it GM has failed to make us actually buy this car. Hopefully the regular people who are not car buffs will be interested but with a car that will get 20-22mpg on the HGWY and use 93 octane I doubt they will.

This is a pretty small sample size to go off of though, don't you think?

sweetbmxrider 03-08-2013 09:27 AM

You have to cut this sample of responses even smaller because the majority of this forum is single and no kids and has zero need for a four door wether they like it or not

Assuming the majority of this forum ever buys things based on needs vs wants.

Exactly! I have kids but still bought a Corvette. I didnt need it I just wanted it. Not alot of car people married, single, whatever want this SS bad enough to go out and buy it right away!

PolarBear 03-08-2013 12:59 PM

If they had a manual trans and station wagon version, I would take that too

Wanting the car isnt putting 40 grand in GM's pocket. Thats the point he's making . Its funny because i havent seen one person just overjoyed and screaming from the rooftops TAKE MY MONEY like you saw when the camaro came back or when the gto/g8's came out. i remember tons of people were just like....yeah i gotta have that. havent seen it yet with the SS

I know this, he worded it incorrectly but then corrected after I responded. So like I said, I want the car. I won't be buying it though.

lol i want the damn car too...but i'll be goddamned if im gonna spend 40 grand on a car that i dont like the looks of. Everything this car offers is something Im looking for. Utility, Safety Technology, LS series motor but its that damn front end. It would cost another 5 grand in just body parts to get the front end look I want then probably another 5 in matching paint. Lets hope that aftermarket grille makers can do something to clean this monstrosity up. :D

this car has 3 major issues for me..

1. not aggresive enough especially with it called SS
2. will be around 40 grand.
3. if its like the GXP will avg 14/20 mpg..

its a nice car but not a car most gm gearheads would want and more importanatly buy.

This. Everything. I could get an STI for the same price. Get the same mileage and do work on track days and have a beast for around town.

I think GM needs to build a new sport compact more than 4 door muscle cara right now. Do you think high school kids are begging for cruises and sonics for their first cars?
