but since i dont like my seats anyway, i dont want to put any money into them. Prob better off selling my tan leathers and buying some seats that have the harness pass threws

Shedding

Havent done much with the car over the past weeks, got out of work a bit early the day it snowed so used the time to throw the dash mostly back in. Just the 5 bolts across the top and 2 nuts behind either kick panel hold it in now so if i gotta pull it again its easy.

Started interior tear down as well. Rear seats and the hatch plastics are out. Rear seats will not make there way back into the car, but the tan plastics will be swapped out for some black ones i have from the last car. In the next few days the seats and carpet will be removed as well. Not sure what im going to do with the seats. I dont like the tan leather, but i dont think the "budget" will include new seats during this phase lol

Also, the factory carpet will be replaced with some black Ozite(#GiftsFromAdam) but wont be installed for a while. I dont want to glue it all down and then have to peel it back up to weld the cage in.

oh yeah, i bought a low miles 4L60e, Shift kit, Separator plate and ARP hardware as well. And the gf hooked it up with a nice new B&M trans cooler for valentines day !

I had Kirk/Alan burn Adam's bar in my car with carpet installed, it was fun and only caught fire once or twice. #justdoit

Fail boat is sinking.

Floor dont look to bad either. Jersey Mike gave birth to a pumpkin when i told him i didnt really look heavily for rust. Looks like i did okay lol

Should out to adam for advising me that i can just power the seat switch itself with a battery to get it to adjust to the point were i can get to the rear nuts.

Dude, you are extremely lucky those look that beautiful. It's actually a shame that you're going to butcher and molest this particular car.

Glad the big man upstairs finally through you a bone.

Looks good, Whats the next step? Roll bar?

Blackbirdws6 02-17-2017 08:22 AM

Great opportunity to clean all the things!

Jersey Mike 02-17-2017 08:36 AM

Pull up those plastic footwell liners and take a peak under them. I've seen bad rust & rot develop there in a number of 4th Gens.

sweetbmxrider 02-17-2017 10:24 AM

Its a hardtop car, its not going to be rusted out like all the dripping ttop cars....
I do agree about checking under the front sound deadening but doubt you'll find anything.

Not next step, but will be a done before carpet gets put in. This weekend I'm gunna clean it all and then start cutting some tabs and stuff that I don't need. Like rear seat stuff. Not really for wieght, but just so laying down the lightweight carpet is easier.

Got confused. Smash was originally going to glass it into his hard top trim....

Jersey Mike 02-17-2017 01:31 PM

Should you find rust, I'd un-friend you if you didn't repair it with diamond plate.

Rust = less metal
Less metal = less weight
Less weight = more PAH

Exactly. Just lay the carpet over it and go on.

If a rust spot developes on the floor, and there's no way to see it, is there even a rust spot?

Removed the sound deadening around the tunnel and its rust free.

Peeped under the plastic against the firewall/footwall area and its rust free as well. I could be crazy, but it almost looks like that plastic piece has wires plugged into it on the top of the trans tunnel under the dash? Is that possible ? I tried to remove it but it seems to be 1 piece from driver to pass side

sweetbmxrider 02-18-2017 02:24 PM

Probably the bcm is tucked into a mount on it. On my lt1, the rap module has a spot that it slips into. That became a bcm in 96, my guess brah.

LS1ow 02-18-2017 05:24 PM

I thought BCM was on passenger side by the glove box breh

sweetbmxrider 02-18-2017 09:28 PM

Could be, was a guess. I think the anti theft is attached to it as well. Don't recall any wires passing through or connecting to it, just modules held onto it.
