I think you are forgetting that if you dont want stabilitrac, or wahtever it's called, you dont have to have it. It's like ordering a really great top of the line bass guitar , they'll customize it for you. You can say whatever you dont want in it, they'll do it for you. The package itself is not your limit. They'll make it how you want it. So you guys can stop arguing about how much the package sucks or doesnt suck now. You just ask, you wait for it, you get it.

NJSPEEDER 01-20-2006 07:25 PM

you can't just say to leave off the stabilitrack. as things stand it is part of an option group. that means without enough cash in hand to influence people to specially make a one off jsut for me it ain't happening.
the difference between a great musical instrument and a car is that the insturment is hand made one at a time. this is production line stuff, not as much room to pick and choose once GM has decided how they want to offer the car.

well, you do have more important things to worry about than buying a solstice in the first place, heh.

BigAls87Z28 01-20-2006 09:59 PM

Its good for the 2 ton SUV. I belive it has roll over midagation too, good to have when you take that turn at 90.

removal of system components woudl put me out of the classes that i would be interested in running. when the SCCA says stock, they mean it much more than the NHRA or NASCAR.

when are you gonna have time to buy a solstice and go autocrossing? i dont mean any offense to you, it's just at this point it seems outside of being realistic, IMHO.

BigAls87Z28 01-20-2006 10:06 PM

Disable it then.
Ok, let me get this right. You have to be stock stock stock, right? So having the most powerful roadster on the market by a good margin for its price, you are gunna bitch about a stupid defeatable stability control system? What do the other cars have over yours? Any STOCK performance car comes with some sort of electronic stability control set up, so its not like you are losing anything!!
So you have the best handling, most powerful car in its racing class...and you are bitching about an electronic stability program?

PBodyGT87 01-20-2006 10:09 PM

okay let's not start a war here. if any body has a problem with the solstice then they should have been on GM's developing team.

i really don't care what other cars come with or don't come with. this is a car i was interested in, i was hoping to be able to option it a certain way to compete in specific classes. i won't be able to get the car the way i would like it, i will shop for something else.
why are you getting all bent because a car isn't available the way i would have liked to buy it? am i hurting your feelings? does your life depend on me buying a solstice? did i ever say that other cars don't have stability controls?

it is merely an option that i don't want on a car and i am not interested in paying for. i am not bitching about it, in fact i have said several times that i will just look for somethign else. no tears, no worries, no big deal.

BigAls87Z28 01-20-2006 10:31 PM

Yes, but you want a car that doesnt exist, and are pretty much saying that Pontiac is stupid for not offering it because 100 people want this option.

no, i said i wanted the car optioned a certain way.
my examples of lower optioned performance vehicles were in response to your statements about no one buying base models or strippers. i never said that the vast majority of people woudl buy the stripped down version. i only pointed out that it is a viable market segment that many brands and models have taken advantage of before.
if you wanna get all bent because i am not interested in the car based on the available option packages that is entirely up to you.

BigAls87Z28 01-20-2006 10:42 PM

No, but like I said, you want a car that doesnt exist.
Like the saying goes, put want in one hand, and **** in the other, and see which one fills up faster.
Ok yes you want certain options, and yes the Solstice clearly doesnt offer the package you want.
