but to be even simpler its his sisters car, why ask about lawsuits or police...it wont make it past the parents...so how the hell is anyone on here supposed to know what his parents would do to him

ALLMACK 01-30-2006 06:15 PM

Well I agree , at least mostly, this is definetly a cool site with good people, as i stated on an earlier thread (One I think I started called something like..I used to be younger once) He was getting picked on right away and i stated that I thought that was very unfair. I dont care much for it..but at the same time, im not sure why..has he posted enough negative threads/replys to warrant this?
well anyway, Lets take it easy and get back to having fun, and sharing thoughts , ideas, on a COMMON love we all have!!

Regardless, its still illegal distruction of property... doesent matter whos it is. Hes 14, if he sees he can get away with doing it to his sisters car without getting locked up, whats to say he wont think he can get away with something else?

considering the number of open threats and comments about beating the S!#* out of people that have been on this and many other boards before i wouldn't consider it anything major. 99 times out of 100 it is jsut someone venting through their keyboard.
much of the advice offered was also telling him not to do it. that is a better leson to teach a 14 year old than making fun of him for his query.

now take a cleansing breath and step down one notch please. this is a discussion, no need to get heated about it.

ALLMACK 01-30-2006 06:23 PM

Hey Rob WS6 ... awesome banner!!/sig

Rob WS6 01-30-2006 06:24 PM

Not anywhere near heated here. Just used capitals to accentuate my points. I just think its in good practice to keep any and all illegal and harmful info off message boards, regardless of the true intent. ;)

Thanks ALLMACK! :D

Mike 01-30-2006 06:26 PM

my posts just always have a short fuse attached because the only time i get onlline is after a 20 hour work day, try and check out the forum before my wornout/pissed off/etc. ass has to go to sleep, and all i get to read is nonsense

NJSPEEDER 01-30-2006 06:28 PM

maybe we are jsut looking at it differently. i would rather see him say something and be told no by us than to bottle it up and end up going off on someone down the line.
hearing someone say no usually makes a person stop for a second and think instead of being reactionary and getting into trouble.

o come on. you act like we all never did anything stupid as a kid. when i was 14 and my sister was 16 you used to disassemble pieces of her car to piss her off and stop her from driving. its all good

Oddball 01-30-2006 06:28 PM

Man -- I must have been away for a long time. I didn't even pick up on this. I'm gonna have to search some of the threads.

And just to bolster the argument, it if weren't for someone here and on TGO I would have never known about the third "hidden" power steering pump adjustment bolt to retighten my belt.

Sure, I dont see nothing wrong... WITH ASKING THE QUESTION, I never said it should be answered, or committed. You people have to put on your coke-bottle glasses and read what Im trying to say. Its the fact of the matter that he is asking a question, which is perfectly fine. Take Ian's answer. Told him it was stupid and youll get a lawsuit, and he wouldnt like it if someone did the same to him. Perfect answer. Then a few other ppl come on and make fun of him for it.

All I am saying is, the kid is being made in fun in certain threads where he shouldnt have. Most is borderline, some go way too far. Theres a difference between being made fun of "personally" and "jokingly" . Like me, Ive called him WaySlow out of a JOKING MANNER, as in, I inserted a ;lol; smiley after the fact. Some of you are pretty serious.

Mike 01-30-2006 06:35 PM

so because i dont use the smilies in every post i make im serious and im an *******

Am I talking to a brick wall or something? Listen... this is how a conversation between me and Matt ended up a cpl nights ago:

Matt-"I've had it with the NJFBOA guys"
Me - "What for?" *Assumes hes never going to post again*
Matt-"They keep making fun of me"
*Shows me thread*
Me - "Just let it pass you by, sift out the jokes directed at you and continue on"

All Im saying is lay off the kid. He's 14 years old. He asks a stupid question? Give him a proper answer or ignore it. Not that hard. Making fun of him is only going to push a common-interested member out of the site.

I dont know you, but you have come across as a little rough towards the kid. not everyone was born with the gift of being able to pick up on written sarcasm. If you say that all the joking you did at his expense was in good fun and you meant nothing by it, I have no reason to doubt you. I just want you to know that a few times it appeared to me as if you really didnt like the kid.

And in regards to Matt asking questions, I think its great that he asks so many questions. that shows that he has a genuine intrest in learning. If you actually take a step back and look at the situation, we are guiding him. If he catches a lot of flack, then he's gonna become bitter towards certain people. I'm trying to help him along as best I can and would really like it it others did the same. He is young and impressionable, he looks up to some of us and he wants to eventually be just like us as far as car knowledge goes.

I'm not here to tell you what to do, and even if I did try to tell you what to do I wouldn't expect you to listen. I just wanted to let you see things from my point of view.

brick wall...

he should have had the im conversation with the people who were bothering him, it would have silently created a solution to the problem at hand without beinging in third fourth and fifth parties to comment on it

since all these partys dont like my posts, this will be my final post here.

I never said I didnt like your posts. I was just stating my opinion on the matter at hand. You know what they say about opinions? they're like ********, everyone has one and they all stink!

I dont want this small discussion to make you leave the site, that was never any of our intentions. But again, I cant tell you what to do.

Brando56894 01-30-2006 07:19 PM

this thread is gettin wayy to personal its pretty much a big flaming topic! i agree ppl (prolly including me) have been a lil hard on him, but we all talk **** on each other (most of us in a joking way) but sum ppl take it toooo far. just one piece of advice to you (cbrr)mike theres a lil feature on the board that blocks ppls posts, if you dont like his posts, block him. ;) kasey uses it all the time!

NJSPEEDER 01-30-2006 08:08 PM

since this is starting to stray from topic a bit and people are taking it all personally i am shutting it down.
i hope everyone who read this picked up a little from it. if anyone has any questions about the posts or material discussed please contact tru2chevy or myself and we will answer as best we can.
if anyone would like to discuss anything further with a particular member who has posted here please take it up through PM's or on AIM, and try to keep it civilized.
