makes ya wish gas engines were that forgiving about A/F ratios doesn't it. lol

So it doesn't help either - smoke <> power. Back to the flame thrower analogy. Looks cool.

Hippie Jeff must cringe when he sees that. :)

Black Smoke= partially burnt fuel, unburnt fuel = white smoke which would be no good. but basicly you can dump as much fuel as you can in ass long as your not cooling the combustion chamber! the only thing that can happen by dumping in to much fuel is washing the cylinder walls down or removing the oil from them thus taking the lubrication away for the piston. but all the sut kinda makes up for that because its got a minut amount of fuel in it still. oil changes need to be more regular when rolling as much smoke as my buddys dodge cummins in my avatar! but because diesels are compression igniton more air is the correction not burning fuel. usually the smoke gos away when you come up on boost.

so basicly running rich = more power and your engine is not going to bogg or lose power . but tim is right throw in the fuel see how much smoke you can make to spool the turbo and burn what you can! hense the automatic headlight dimmer!

Neat. Smelly. But neat.

So that truck in the avatar needs more air?

Cummings??? whats that???

as was said, the smoke is unburnt fuel, however, if you have too much fuel and not enough air, you can run the risk of washing down the cylinder walls with too much fuel.
