it'd be better if you didn't go and start telling them how to raise their son. just tell them what you saw, what you did and that if you were them, you would want some responsible individual to come tell you what was going on. see, you're not telling them what to do, you are just telling them what happened. if they have a problem with it, and the kid persists, i would have zero problem with calling the cops on him. that way, the parents were warned and should have taken action (whether it be just talk to their son or lock the quad up, what ever will work for them and him).

For your daughter to say she is not coming home, means that there must be some other problems at the home. You did the right thing. Sometimes you just have to let the kid learn on their own. If you prevent them from doing anything, they will never learn. It's like me, i didnt learn to ware my helmet until I hit my head into a tree after doing a 360 over a dirt jump on my bike. Yes you had to stop the kid from continuing riding with your daugher on board. But other than that let the kid cruise down the street, soon or or later he will learn. Only within in reason if he is cruising like 15-20mph to drive over to the track, but if he is going to be going wide open hitting every gear possible, then he needs to be stopped. My opinion if a quad or dirt bike driver needs to get to a near location to ride, let them ride as long as they are going slow and somewhat quite.. Even thou it is hard to keep those quite. For now if your daughet wants to take rides on the bike, she is going to have to get her own. You do have to admit, if she has made the effort to get onto the quad or bike, she must enjoy riding on it. So work something out with your daughter, that if she behaves you as a parent can give her a quad or dirt bike that she can ride with her own helmet and proper equipment. As for your wife have beers, im assuming you had a few your self, you should have never got into your car. You could have got a DWI all for stopping some fool for ridng fast with your daughter. I would have at least made an attempt to stand in the road to slow him down.

Seriously though, sometimes you have to be percieved as the bad guy to protect someone. You were protecting your daughter - no one can fault you for that.

You did what a father is supposed to do. Even if it makes you "look bad" you did the right thing. When my dad would get pissed at me i'd be over in a day or 2 and back to normal.

Nothing wrong with protecting your daughter from some tool bag on a quad. Hopefully she realizes what you do for her when she gets older. Cannot make any promises as dads do go unthanked for a lot of things they do.

The only thing I'd have done differently would be to order the girl into the house and THEN tell the kids you don't EVER want to see your daughter on their quad again. Then I'd have gone inside and told her why you were upset and how badly she could've been hurt and whatnot and make her aware that if she gets caught again, she's toast. Just my two pennies.
