Yea one of these days Ill get them and the lca's but since I am d**n near broke for the moment fixing the busted suspension was on the top of my list. I'll do more and more with the car just takes some time.

you think my 94 z28 convertible with stock subframe connnectors should be updated with new ones or are they fine???

JSPERFORMANCE 07-16-2008 06:56 AM

Adding a good set of real connectors will only help the ride and handeling of your car

umm did you buy an adjustable panhard bar yet? gonna need it with the lowering kit.

i would have left it stock height and went with the panhard/lca's/and subframes, then lowered it later...would have handled better with those parts and stock struts/springs than it will lowered with stock bars

if I may throw in my 2 cents...I recommend the weld in double-diamond sub-frame connectors.Kenny Brown made the ones I have in my 94z.Noticed an immediate difference.Bolt-on connectors I believe have too much play, don't waste ur money on them.

unless its a convertible F body

Problem with bolt in ones is that over time, the chassis will start to twist and the holes in where the bolts go will elongate, eliminating any hope of chassis reinforcement you had done not to mention damage the chassis itself.
Get bolt in ones, and have them welded.

Would that benefit the car more than getting weld in ones and welding them in?

Depends on the forces the car will be under. If you will be wheelstanding or taking hard turns with sticky tires then there will probably be a difference. For casual use, bolt ins that are tacked in should be pretty much equal.

Thats what I figured.

Yeah, you can also break it down to oval tubing vs rectangular tubing, triangularity, cross sectional area, wall thickness, and all that nitty gritty BS. But in most applications none of that stuff really matters.

LTb1ow 07-17-2008 04:06 PM

I just don't wanna have a bent car. I want my doors to open and close normally.

UMI has just made sub frame connectors available that are designed espically for convertable 4th gens. You can purchase them and have them installed here as well.

hmmmm nice...what do you guys think I should purchase suspension/chassis wise for $1,400. I drive a 94 Z28 conv. i'm planning on lowering it about an inch. I know i have to buy a lot like LCAs, Panhard bar, LCA brackets, springs, shocks blah blah...

JSPERFORMANCE 07-20-2008 11:41 AM

If you would like to stop by the shop I can put a suspension package together for you to fit your budget.

Jam 07-24-2008 11:31 PM

thats alright. I just ordered the SLP Bilstein/Eibach Package and the complete Bushings Set (red)
