Somebody died on it. I think it's not there anymore for that reason.

Alien Encounter. I think somebody had heart failure. I never thought it was really THAT scary, but maybe somebody was in one of the "hot seats".

I remember I went on that when I was in 6th grade. that was a scary ass ride, not something I pictured Disney having.

:( I don't remember it. I think I was there in 97, maybe it was already closed.

Wait, are you talking about the Men in Black ride at Universal or the Alien thing at Magic Kingdom where the Alien breathes down your neck? By the way, the thing at magic kingdom is now the Lilo and Stitch attraction and now Stitch is the thing that breathes over your neck instead of the alien. I could never see the attraction with this ride, if you can call it that. But to each their own. I always like the Buzz Lightyear ride similar to the MIB ride where you shot things as you go by. I know its meant for kids, but neon and black lights are cool on the Buzz lightyear ride. But I like the classic rides like Peter Pan, The Norway boat ride, and the Mexcian Gondola ride. Last time I went to Magic Kindgom last summer, the haunted house ride was closed too.

Thats a big pet peeve of mine with Disney. They close way too many rides and never reopen them, so you are getting jipped out of your experience and price of ticket for that reason.

Also, does anyone remember that ride at Epcot back in the late 80s, early 90s that was like a simulation in space and towards the end, the ride smells like oranges? I think that blood wars ride (Similar to the Star Tours ride) replaced it. There was also that Airplane navigation ride sponsored by PanAm that used to be at the Magic Kingdom. I miss the old rides.

I liked the alien ride at Magic Kingdom. It was pretty scary for a Disney ride and it reminded me a lot of the Aliens movies. I also hate it when they close rides. I remember a lot of them I used to go on when I was a kid and now they are gone. Like the 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea one where you got in the submarine and dove down to the bottom of the ocean. That was badass. I hope they reopen the Haunted House, that is a classic! I think those, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, the roller coaster in Frontier Land, the tea cups, go karts, and a bunch others are classic Disney rides.

I remember the Epcot ride! I dont remember the beginning, but I remember the ending of it. They change rides there a lot so if theres one you want to see, you dont have long to see it. I remember when I was a kid, that giant globe thing was a zero gravity ride where you got in this suit and stood on a giant fan and you flew around in there. That was awesome. A few years ago it was a technology through time ride. I also remember a few years ago there was an Aerosmith roller coaster, and a test car driving thing that was pretty damn fun. You strapped yourself into this test car thing and it drove around this test track all fast. Now I remember a looooooong time ago when I first when there when I was like 6 or 7 there was this ride where you were in this open car and it took you through this ride that showed the evolution of cars and race cars and it was the coolest thing ever. It ended in this car museum that I think is still there. Last time I was there in like 2002, they had this fossil fuel ride that was sponsored by Exxon I think lol They also had an indoor food growing thing that was pretty cool. You rode through it on a boat. Epcot was always a really cool educational place, plus the countries kick ass. Did you know that each country in Epcot is actually controlled by that country and is considered territory of that country? Like China owns the China part of Epcot.

Have you ever been to the Halloween thing at Universal? Now THAT **** is scary! They close the park down and reopen after dark. They turn all the lights out, only leaving a few red lights on in the streets, and if you havent been there, the entire park is setup like a town with streets and shops and alleyways, etc., and they have hundreds of actors all dressed up in really freaky outfits hiding all over the place chasing you with chainsaws and stuff and its hard to see where you're going because its dark and they have fog machines and strobe lights in some areas. They also make a bunch of HUGE haunted rides taking up those big warehouses there. I remember the first time I went there in '99 I almost crapped myself it was so freaky. I went there with like five friends and it went from 8pm til 2am and we literally spent the entire time trying to find places to hide from them lol Then they had a haunted parade with demons and zombies and stuff. I went every year until recently. Its like living in a horror movie for six hours lol They made it a little less freaky a few years ago because a few of the actors got beat up because some of the patrons thought they were real lol Thats also where I found one of my favorite drinks, the 'Lobotomie'. Its five different rums and pineapple juice. Im guessing it gets its name because after a few, you dont remember crap  I also learned its not a good idea to drink a bunch of them and then try and run away from anything. You usually end up lying down bruised and/or bloody

The Exxon thing was "Universe of Energy".

They need to rotate rides to keep it fresh. There are a couple I miss but a couple that I don't- they were fun but old and getting kind of stale.

Anybody remember Captain EO? That made a hell of a fast exit-stage-left LOL.

i love love love looooove disney..i keep telling ted how much i wanna go backkk....i got kicked out of pleasure island a few years ago though, haha =(

aside from small world which is my alltime favorite (i know everyone else hates it, shut up) i LOVE the movies ride at mgm and of course the muppets 3d show...yea i'm 5 i know. that one "soarin" was really freaken cool too, i think its relatively new

ps my best friend from college interned at disney 2 years ago. did you know that at the fireworks show at night...when tinkerbell flies across the sky on her little wire.......it's actually. ready for this? a small chinese man. yea try to sleep at night now

The MGM Ride was the best. I kept getting on line for that ride 100 times cause of the Alien. I remember sitting in the car, looking at the Sigorney Weaver robot with her eyes rolling back and forth, with the flame thrower in her hand.

Last time I went was a year after Hurricane Andrew. It was a surprise trip from my parents.
Haunted House scared the crap out of me. I did get one of those invisible dog collars they sell outside. I kept seeing them around the area.
Epcot was my favorite. I liked all the countries.

When the Muppet show first opened, my brother and I went through it 3 or 4 times. The pre-show in the waiting area is pretty good, too.

This is a good topic. Its amazing, a lot of us were around before MGM and the Animal Kingdom were even built.

Did anyone ever go on that Dinosaur ride at the Animal Kingdom that jolts you a lot? Its kind of a hidden ride. Very fun though.

The Winnie the Pooh ride is pretty fun and entertaining. I miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride though. I bet kids wouldn't even know what that is nowadays.

I am surprised they've kept Snow White as long as they have. All of the years I have been going to the Magic Kingdom, only this past Summer was the first time I've ever been on Splash Mountain and that Runaway Train roller coaster. I was literally afraid of those rides up until recently for some reason. Now I loved them. I always wondered where that Zippedy Doo Dah song came from within Magic Kingdom.

That Great Movie Ride is Awesome. I too love the part with Ripley and the Alien in the ceiling.

Did anyone go on that new Simpsons ride yet that replaced Back to the Future at Universal?

Dinosaur was a good ride. It was our first one we went on for our first park visit of the trip.

We wanted to hit up Universal for the new Simpsons ride (we are both HUGE simpsons fans) but we didnt have time. Next time we will def make a day of Universal.

Yea, I know its kind of a downer. I loved that ride too. The Simpsons ride looks kind of funny, but not as cool as back to the future was. If you are all interested, you can youtube the ride and a video shows a good amount of it.

They should have got rid of that earthquake ride and put the Simpsons ride in there.

Does anyone know what went in place of the King Kong ride? Last time I was there nothing was there.

Also, has anyone been on that Shrek ride? If so, how was it?

King Kong is gone too!! WTF is that! Whats next? Jaws? Maybe they'll take out the Terminator 3D ride and put the Teletubies instead.
