IIRC a 4" cowl is illegal in NJ. I think the limit is 2-3 inches.

IMO Flowmaster Delta 40 series sounds incredible. I've had it on my 79 for about 7 years now and only been hassled once. I bought both mufflers, then brought the car to a meineke that I've used before and had them custom bend the exhaust for me and use their high flow cat. No problems with the exhaust, and it sounds really good. I eventually gutted the cats, and never noticed any difference, so I guess the high flow is really very high flow.

the 87 monte SS rocks a 4" cowl no issues...
