can you get collector registration on a car that still has a lein on it?

naSSty99ss 08-15-2008 07:43 AM

It doesn't say anything about it, so i don't see why not.

CHRIS67 08-15-2008 08:00 AM

I guess once you have collector status you don't want to miss your renewal and start the whole evil DMV process over again.

Thanks! I already have collector's registration on my car since 2005. As far as liens go, I have a loan on my Firehawk that will be paid off in 2010 and it's got the collector's reg, so I don't think there's a problem...unless they changed the rules.

What's the difference between this and QQ tags, other than the age of the vehicle?

BonzoHansen 08-16-2008 11:16 PM

QQ = no mileage limit, no inspection at all (even odometer)...plus I think once it qualifies for QQ (25 years) it no longer qualifies for CR (if I read the app right last year).

I have QQs on my Z28 and peeled the old inspection sticker off the windshield once I got them (that felt great). I do have a 3,000 mile per year limit, but that is from the ins. co. Besides shows, parades, and educational purposes it's also alowed out for "maintenance rides".

BonzoHansen 08-16-2008 11:30 PM

I'm in constant maintenance mode! You know, once kids/work/house/family get in the way, 3000 miles in a non-daily driver can be hard to do, lol.
