W body replaced the Grand Prix, Monte, and all the car I listed above.

There's a J-Body, too. Cavaliers and Sunfires.

The original G body was not the 80's regal, cutlass, and grand prix. The original G body was the late 60's and early 70's Grand Prix and Monte Carlo.

BigAls87Z28 09-06-2008 01:55 PM

Oh yeah...how could I forget.
J body made a good car, but GM just didnt keep it up to date with the rest of the compacts.

No....90's Bonnie's were called an H-body. 1/2 step up from the W body, 1/2 step down from the "new" G body.

H and G are interchangeable, neither platform is worth wasting internet space on.

yea just like Z28, no real meaning just an rpo ordering code for the dealerships.

What platform is the Solstice/Sky/GT Roadster?

BigAls87Z28 09-08-2008 09:34 AM

Kappa. Kappa is a great parts bin car. Rear diff from the last Sigma, Brakes and hubs from the Epsilon car, some Delta front end stuff, auto trans from Sigma (as well as BMW btw) manual trans from the 355 trucks, seats from GM Brazil.

Alpha will be built along the same lines, just wont be a full framed car like Kappa is.

Untamed 09-08-2008 09:35 AM

Kappa? There was a thread about that somewhere in the lounge.

My car has a full frame? I assumed a uni-body, or does it have full frame rails on the uni-body?

The 2nd generation Kappa has been canned. That doesnt mean that the Solstice or Sky is dead, it just means it wont be built off the 2nd gen Kappa platform.
Its been rumored that Kappa cars will shift to Alpha.

Yeah I have a picture similar to that, so it is still a uni-body similar to the vette. If they had only made the chassis out of aluminum like the Elise the weight would have been a lot less

:kneeslap: She's kissing a dog! I got to get my mind out of the gutter.

BigAls87Z28 09-08-2008 11:06 AM

It would also cost 40k....
There is also talk that the next gen C7 platform will ALSO be used to make a Kappa replacement. Since C7 is going to get much smaller and lighter, expect to see a Solstice sized C7 with a 370-400hp V8 between the fenders.
