Nice car man....I love those GTOs.

Did they sell it to you "As-Is", or give you a short warranty?

That exhaust won't pass NJ State Inspection, so if they gave you any kind of short warranty I believe they are obligated by state law to fix anything keeping the car from passing a state inspection.

Signature Motor Cars, Was that place formerly called the Performance Car Store a few years ago? If it's the same place, I had a bad experience with them. Good luck with the car, just make sure they do everything they say they are going to do.

This is a completely different place and ownership but same type of dealership and A-holes that were at performance car store.

I checked it and it looks ok lol

Oh I was wondering haha.. I carfaxed it and said it went through a Philly auto auction.

They sold it to me with a 1 month BS warranty LOL.. so I immediately told them about the brakes.. I will make sure to mention something about the inspection with that exhaust.. why won't that exhaust pass inspection though? I will take some pics of it and see if there are cats.

Needs to exit 6" or more past last opening window, maybe that

Oh I didn't know that.. I'll have to check to see if it's at least 6" past

It actually comes out to the side of the body just in front of the rear tires? If that's the case, then you should be fine. I only mentioned it because you mentioned dumps before the rear axle in the first post and I didn't see the tips in the side shot you posted.

And the exhaust has to exit 4" behind the last window you can put down, not 6".

Well it has mufflers with turn downs that dump under the middle of the car as far back as the rear tires. I will take a pic when it's light out so you can see what I mean.

Kat 02-23-2009 08:07 AM

Oh and the other thing with GTO's the slave cylinder will leak on you eventually. You can get a F-body one for about 75 dollars. Swap the fittings and you'll be good to go..

Ask me how I know.. lol

He already knows all the maintance problems that entail the car. From cradle alignments to strut mounts, and spring sag etc. No need to make a list on here. Im sure we'll be tearing it down in no time lol

If the tips don't come out to the side of the car it *should* fail inspection. If you don't wanna fight with it later, get it fixed on their dime if possible.....

DeadTrend does that for me :D Im too lazy to star star star star myself :moon:

LS1 4Good 03-08-2009 02:28 PM

Finally took a picture of the exhaust.. it has dual chokemaster mufflers (not loud at all tho)

http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/b...0/IMG_0247.jpg

Also.. the tips scrape on the ground a lot. I think I might get drag bags to raise the rear suspension temporarily until I can afford new springs.

Tru2Chevy 03-08-2009 05:53 PM

Yea, that exhaust is definitely not legal....you might get lucky, but chances are very good that you will fail NJ inspection with that setup.

- Justin

LS1 4Good 03-12-2009 10:21 AM

Well that's not good because I just spent literally all of my money for brakes. Now if I have to deal with that I'm going to have words with the dealership for sure.

Absolutely. Hopefully luck is on his side.

LS1 4Good 03-12-2009 11:06 AM

If it comes down to it, I could always pay and be able to do what I want with the exhaust haha

MonmouthCtyAntz 03-12-2009 12:51 PM

I wasnt aware dealers could sell "illegal" cars...From what I understood they had to beable to pass inspection.

What muffler do you have? It sounded pretty quiet when you left the meet on Sunday.
