if they knew the g8 community, they would have created a package that includes a ecm/tcm tune, cai, LT headers, xpipe, and axleback...since thats what everyone does anyway
but the price of everything doesnt surprise me, they want $420 for axle back straight pipes that you can have done by your local shop for $80 lol |

Do you have to buy a G8 GT and then ship it to them for the conversion or will it be like the previous Firehawks that were available through dealership order? The way he phrases the part about price shopping with discounts is a bit confusing. Any dealership that is selling such a low production, special edition of a car is not going to be anxious to offer discounts.
Wasn't there also something about GM bringing in a very limited number of G8's this year? I wonder what that is going to do to SLP's production schedule. |
Seemed like decent response from a businessman  Still don't like the car though.

still a stupid idea to to assign a legendary name such as that to a another car.
Same thing every other company does just milking something good until every one is sick and tired of it. |

lets see, you can talk a dealer down to about 24k-26k new gt, then add 3-5k in NA work and you have a solid 12 sec car, or spend 7k on a intercooled s/c or TT kit, then 2k on exhaust, and 500 on a tune, faster than a firehawk so, 35-40k for a s/c or TT g8 that runs 11's ...or a 58k for g8 with some diffrent paint and a s/c that runs 12.6  lingenfelter did it the right way, performance pack (intercooled s/c, intake and such) for 11.5k, thats a good price for 500 hp theres no way they are selling these things |
Firehawk being a legendary name is stretching it. Its a name tied in with SLP, not with GM. SLP can sell Firehawk G3's if they want.
|
Lingenfelters G8GT was shown & reviewed in this months Car & Driver. I believe as tested price was $56k for something like 500+HP.

dont wave the flag if you dont have any facts to back it up. it is a FACT that they have orders already, i dont know how many it takes to consider it "many" but they have sold cars |

Its going to be faster, better handling, better quality, and offering more functonality then any Firehawk in its short past.
Same argument that the new Camaro is not a Camaro because it doesnt do something that the old one does, when it does everything better by a large margin. |
i look at it this way........
every year the firehawk has existed, it was the pinnacle performance car available with Pontiac badging. so as long as this g8 lives up to THAT standard (which it does) than i have no gripes with the name |

I think the actual mods that the G8 Firehawk have are great and it IS a big upgrade over the regular G8(can't really say that about the LS1 T/A Firehawks, a hood and some suspension pieces aren't a big deal). I just think the price is ridiculous. |

Tech guys are going nuts over there about it being called a firehawk. I can understand.
