Crap.. I must suck cause I just spent 1480 for a new Dell.. Granted it has 4 gigs of ram a 1080P screen, BD drive, 500 gig drive and other crap..

But mine isn't pretty white :( More like brushed aluminum, black and leather. :D

ok seriously? Can't anyone say hey! Congrats! to the kid? This entire board is filled with computer nerds who think whatever they hand built or boughy to specific specs is the best thing since breast implants and nobody, manufacturer or individual will ever come close to their wisdom of the machine.

I've only used macs since 2001 before it was trendy to own. Since a time when the only place I could get mac software was compUSA an hour away or order online. I started using them for design, but I think that's an old wives tale that doesn't apply anymore because the only difference I've seen is stability in the design programs. Everything else is just smoother, faster and more streamlined and intuitive.

I'd say "Congrats" if his first post wasn't a lie.

Mike 03-01-2009 10:38 AM

yup......could have said

"just picked up an almost new macbook from a friend, got a sick deal too."

but so much nonsense came out that he couldn't remember what he said when he posted again a half hour later

Camvill 03-01-2009 11:28 AM

yeh why is it that everytime someone posts something they get attacked? Seems like the internet gives people balls of steel because they are hiding behind their screen.

I would have said congrats if it wasn't an over priced mac. I'm not claiming to be an elitest of my own, I just can't stand how that whole line of computers are about 3x over priced for their performance / specifications. Never mind on top of the fact that the OP could have bought a brand NEW (no, actually brand new) laptop for just about the same price, but with better specs and warranty. On top of that, the OP's laptop isn't even being produced anymore.

Example I found in 35 seconds of googling.

that's a pretty ignorant thing to say

that's like saying there's no viruses for linux

because of comments like those you're also the exact reason why there's a market for mac's

Camvill 03-01-2009 03:29 PM

arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics. I'm done.

Well, if macs get viruses I've never seen one. I don't run any kind of virus software. 3 different computers, 2 I still have and use, no viruses in 8 years. I won't say it's impossible because I don't know. But I like my odds

I haven't had a virus in 10 years, since I started using computers. My stepdad on the other hand had plenty. It's not computers fault, its the idiotic user problem most of the time.

Tru2Chevy 03-01-2009 04:04 PM

People say that Macs don't get viruses because there is such a small user base that any virus written for OS X wouldn't affect nearly as many people and it would be more difficult to spread effectively.

Personally I like my Mac. It's a 12" Powerbook with a 1.33 GHz PowerPC processor, the battery lasts 4-5 hours, and as I mentioned earlier, I got it lightly used for a VERY good price from a member here. Newer Intel Macs aren't as appealing to me because you can get the same basic setup for less than half the cost by going out and buying any Intel based PC off the shelf and installing your favorite flavor of Linux.

But anyway....congrats to the OP on your (almost maybe) new laptop that you got for a decent price.

Nope Im the same in person. Very scarcastic. %90 of the time Im usually just screwing arround with people. If they don't get the joke, thats their problem.
