Does it happen all the time? Or only when the engine gets warmed up?

If it only happens when the engine is warmed up, it could be the o2 sensor. It will cause that exact problem. If the sensor is reading lean once the engine gets warmed up (switches to closed loop operation) it will richen it up even though it's not necessary, causing a rough running condition, an idle surge, or even a stall.

1. I clean the I.A.C with carb cleaner... 2. The o2 sincor is not hooked up.. I didn't think it was that cause this problem just started to happin about 2 months ago.. I didn't hook it up cause when I pulled the motor out and put it back in I couldn't find the wire that comes from the wiring harness to hook it to the wire on the o2... But I will try and find it and see what it does... But no the car doesn't always do it.. It only does it sometimes.. Like one day it might do it after driving it for an hr or so and then it may not do it for a few days to a few weeks it all dapends on when it wants to I geuss...

Are you getting a SES light on at all? If you had your 02 sensor disconnected, as soon as you went closed loop, the light would pop on as it would be getting ZERO readings.
If you have an SES light on, it should give us a bit of a window as to what is going on.
I would try to figure out where that O2 sensor wire went, and plug that back in. Should be a purple wire on the driver side near the head. Its a simple one wire connection.
Not having your O2 hooked up would send the computer into limp home mode. I would then check your plugs because you most likely are spitting fuel into the engine, fouling the plugs.
If you are getting no SES light, which is odd since you do not have the O2 hooked up, then its something totally else.
Does it smooth out and drive ok once you crusing? It only spits and spudders when you are at a stop? Sounds like you have a fuel/air problem.

Yeah, but its the only engine that did....
V6, and the top V8's had EFI. But 87 doesnt automaticly mean Carb. Thats my comment.

my 92 would run like crap after sitting during the winter, dry gas and fresh fuel cleared things up in a tank or two. might be water in the fuel?
