Good job SSM. Next time get a 4th gen tank & removable filler neck!

Teds89IROC 08-28-2009 06:52 PM

My Walbro also hums when I turn the key on, significantly louder than stock. My dad has some kind of Holley in his 65 corvette and that thing is LOUD

BigAls87Z28 08-29-2009 08:57 AM

w000ts! We were talkin about your tank install at MCD's on thursday.

LTb1ow 08-29-2009 08:59 AM

LOL. Am I the only brave enough fool to drop the tank and not cut it?

Blacdout96 08-29-2009 09:23 AM

Nah, im dropping my tank, your just lazy cutting your floor to get to it, no excuse.

BigAls87Z28 08-29-2009 09:23 AM

I belive you need bigger balls to cut the hole.
You took the harder yet potentially life saving way.

LTb1ow 08-29-2009 04:24 PM

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt he already have a 4th gen tank
I picked up a plastic tank for $50 with about half a tank of gas in it and I bought from someone here a sender for a plastic tank. He had the tank too but that wouldnt fit in my beater.....

LTb1ow 09-01-2009 08:48 AM

Mine is metal though, are the plastic tanks stock with removable filler necks?

It technically isnt a removable neck but it is rubber coupled to the tank near the bottom making for easier ingress and egress. I put one in my 91 GTA  it was a LOT easier putting that one in than taking the old one out

Whoops, I dropped the word plastic, that was kind of important to the conversation I suppose.

LTb1ow 09-01-2009 01:08 PM

Yes you did.

So I would need to find a 98 one right? 98 is the only LS1 with return line I think yes?

PolarBear 09-01-2009 01:28 PM

From what I understand the 98 tank is steel still. The others all have a return, you would have to remove the internal pressure regulator though and re-plumb part of the system. The plastic tanks have a "T" block right before the fuel filter that the filter screws into. You could easily replace the "T" with some fittings to make the plastic tank work. I am not familiar with the LT1 cars but if the fuel filter is in the same place as the 3rd gens had then you could make it work fairly easy with 2 adapter fittings, IIRC from memory. I ran -6AN line from the tank all the way to the fuel rails but if I had to do it again with stock factory hard lines I could figure out which fittings to buy.
