You cant compare the price of an IRS on a Corvette to the one on a Camaro.
Camaro's IRS set up is designed around a much more affordable set up when compared to the Corvette.

I'm just thinking about aftermarket and what the cost will be to put one in there that can handle more hp.

BigAls87Z28 12-19-2009 08:58 PM

The rear should be good till 600hp. Holden doesnt do it half-assed.

I hated the IRS in my C5...

I couldn't find anything on Edmonds or Jalopnik about the GT being 3750# or it costing $30k, but the Ford forums are saying it will be unchanged @ around 3450# and $27k.

BigAls87Z28 12-21-2009 09:53 PM

********. The V6 went UP in price, when all the Ford fags said that it wouldnt since the 3.7 would be made locally vs the French 4.0.
They also said the V6 would lose weight...it didnt.
They said that the 2010 Mustang woudl be lighter then the 2009?
It wasnt
So far, the only thing that was right was the fact that they pegged the Camaro's output for the V6 and V8.
A unique V8, all brand new transmissions, new brakes, suspension parts...and some how still 27k?
V6 Mustang now starts at 23k, just like the Camaro V6. Gunna tell me the GT is under 4 grand away?

LTb1ow 12-21-2009 09:53 PM

Um, cause Ford > GM.

Der.

I have no idea what the '11 will be, but the '10 V6 is $20,995, not 23. And the '10 GT is $27,995. Weight wise, the V6 went up 35 pounds- to 3380, 370 pounds lighter than the V6 Camaro, and the GT from '09 to '10 went up just 15 pounds, to 3455, 495 pounds lighter than the '10 Camaro.

BigAls87Z28 12-21-2009 10:11 PM

23k for teh 2011 Mustang V6.

2010 Mustang starts @ 21,000 and weighs 3400lbs. It has 210hp and 240ftlbs out of a 4.0 liter. Has basic options that pretty much every car comes with.

2010 Camaro starts @ 22,680 and weighs 3780lbs. It has 304hp and 270ftlbs out of a 3.6 liter. Gets better gas miles, comes standard with power seats, satalite radio, mp3 player, remote trunk release, and hands free communication system. Also has an airbag for basically every section of the car!

2010 GT weighs 3534 and to get a GT that compares with the SS you will need a premium GT which starts @ 31,000.

That puppy is wedged right in there!
The plastic injector/coil cover really gives it the look of it having clamps, etc etc.
Ford really turned it up for this car.

Blackbirdws6 12-26-2009 10:22 PM

Crosses fingers for retaining the sound pipe into the cabin lol. Peak power sounds good. About time they gave the GT some balls.
