I'm the same way; if I've known the person a long time and trust them, I'd let them drive it. Otherwise, they can ride shotgun. I've got too much blood, sweat, and tears tied up in my car to have some random person I hardlly know wreck it.

Case in point - a buddy of mine back in senior year of HS (1991) let a friend drive his very nice '68 Chevelle to pick up his paycheck. The kid wrapped the Chevelle around a tree on the way back to my friend's house and totalled it.

maybe im over protective but it seemed disrespectful

anways other than that noone drives my car but me!

I know what you mean. I hate taking the Camaro to inspection stations for that same reason. The revving of the engine more than once seems unneccessary. I really don't know how some of these guys get their jobs at these stations.

Nope. Never

I certainly appreciated the offer and my dad slapped me on the back of the head when I declined. I think I was more focused on getting a new best in my Bird while on the sauce and didn't want to be distracted.

I can assure you the next time you offer (praying you do) that I will not have the same answer.:)

As for my Bird, my Dad and only a select few friends have driven my car. My wife called me out one day and asked if she could drive my car knowing I would be uneasy about it. I called her bluff and said sure. We took the car to the Rutgers stadium parking lot and I tossed her the keys....she has never wanted to drive the car again haha.

I'm a bit more flexible with my G8 but I certainly pass the keys to just about anyone.

My dad, my uncle, and a select few others I trust. I went to a private inspection station so I wouldnt have to deal with them dirivng my car because they dont let you watch them at the Winslow inspection station.

I've let a couple people drive my car. People i trusted. My ex always complained that I never let her drive the camaro, even though I said she could. When she finally did she didn't like it haha. I had to put it in drive for her because she couldn't work the B&M shifter

bad64chevelle 02-10-2010 11:27 AM

When I had my Camaro, I let a few people drive it...When it comes to my car there is a VERY short list of people who I let/would let drive it.

how many of the people on that list have gotten their hands dirty helping you build it?

NJ Torque 02-10-2010 11:40 AM

sekret agent 02-10-2010 12:38 PM

i let a friend drive it ONCE...but never again because he thought it was in the same power range as his trailblazer ss and we almost did a doughnut into the side of my house.

i wouldnt say its that huge of a difference...

fire-chickens 02-10-2010 01:51 PM

I wont ever let anyone drive my car, can't trust my friends as their immaturity will kick in, and they wont respect the power of the car, especially after I've seen how some of them drive their cars or someone elses car.. I'll let my dad drive it and thats about it lol.

Squirrel 02-10-2010 10:07 PM

only my dad and brother ever drove it more than around the block, but once my bro hit a perfect 1-2-1, he was banned for life haha

I tend not to let other people drive my cars. The Camaro has never had anyone else drive it except me since I bought it. The truck has only seen my sister drive it, even then she had to steal it while I was away.

CHRIS67 02-11-2010 07:08 AM

Friends and family can drive my DD, but only other person I would let drive the 67 is my wife and she is scared to.

TheV6Guy 02-11-2010 11:14 AM

only let my family drive my car other then me..

V 02-11-2010 11:15 AM

no ones asked.
