Saturday I have to work, but after that, im gunna wrench.
Sunday is Easter...so that might or might not be a day to work on a car.
I wish it was clear tonight. Bastard rain.

BonzoHansen 03-29-2010 08:04 PM

If my Tuesday night meeting is canceled I might be available.

BigAls87Z28 03-30-2010 01:36 AM

Cool.
Im not sure what tomorrow will hold. Ive been talking to some of my contacts at GM, and they want me to come into the city tomorrow. I have to work, so they are gunna try to do something for tomorrow night. I dont think its gunna happen, but if it does...Im there!

BigAls87Z28 04-03-2010 04:05 PM

Alright, Im gunna start on it today. If anyone wants to stop by and help me figure out the timing, good stuff.
Shoot me a text if you want to come back.

sweetbmxrider 04-04-2010 08:23 AM

does it run? did jsfboa do work? ehh?

BigAls87Z28 04-04-2010 06:09 PM

got the timing marker to line up, pulled the dist, and dropped it back correctly.
Connected it all back up.
Checked for spark again.
Fuel spits upwards out of the carb. WTF.

transmaro93 04-04-2010 06:34 PM

dude... something is wrong with the valve timing.. i was thinking about it last night.. only way for that gas to force upwards is if the intake valve is open on the upward stroke of hte piston... did you ever have that came or timing set out since the last time it ran... btw next time we gotta do it before 6pm... no light doesnt really help when working...

LTb1ow 04-04-2010 06:40 PM

Did someone mention valve adjustment?!?

Oh oh pick meeee!

What is it doing?

sweetbmxrider 04-04-2010 06:55 PM

clogged carb? flooded?

LTb1ow 04-04-2010 06:56 PM

Bad gas?

JL8Jeff 04-04-2010 07:23 PM

Gas spitting out sounds like a sunk float in the carb. Probably need to pull the carb and clean it out good and check the needle and seat for debris flooding it out. And check the float to make sure it's not full of fuel.

BigAls87Z28 04-04-2010 07:34 PM

Will do Jeff.
Gas is fresh...as already been said
Nothing should ahve changed reguarding cam timing. Only thing that is different from the last time it started is a new intake.

BTW, its an Ede 600CFM w/ electric choke. Gunna have to tear down the carb I guess...bah

transmaro93 04-04-2010 08:22 PM

yea im part of the new age and dont know much about carbs.... but that was an awful lot of gas shooting upwards out of the carb... almost like the exhaust was completely blocked off and the gas had no where else to shoot but up back through the carb.... its deff a weird one to say the least...

maroman88 04-09-2010 09:26 PM

i had the gas shooting up like that wen i did the carb swap.... needed a new float

BigAls87Z28 04-18-2010 05:57 PM

Ok it runs! Like a champ too. It was another 180* off. We dropped it down and started right up without fuss. And it runs much smoother then it ever has. I was impressed actually.
Thanks to Brandon for helping me out.

transmaro93 04-18-2010 07:13 PM

yea man for the actual 10 minutes of work it took to get it started... that thing runs nice... now everybody is curious to see if you actually part ways with it now.... hahah

BigAls87Z28 04-18-2010 10:31 PM

Yeah well we will see. I still feel bad I have to part with it, but its almost a must.
Gunna have to do an oil change on her soon.

JL8Jeff 04-19-2010 07:29 AM

I think everybody has to do the out 180 with the distributor at least once in their life! Good to hear it's back up and running.

sweetbmxrider 04-19-2010 07:30 AM

nice!

Yeah, really. I did it with the distributor right and the plug wires 180* off from my markings. That's where the real talent comes in
