between cleaning up the garage and working on a few peoples cars i was able to get some work completed on the truck

mounted and wired up the tach that ive had sitting on the work bench for some time (bought it for the 98 camaro i had)

also got the last part of my exhaust in so i was able to rip off the flowtech glasspac and replaced that and the stock cat with a test pipe and flowmaster super 44 with dump.

sounds pretty good for a 4.3L v6

well ive been busy with stuff around the house and other projects but i pulled the truck into the garage last night to do some maintenance work to it and while i was looking at the 3 different shades of black there it was i said screw it and i had some fun with her today! im about half way done with the paint so once its all finished up ill post final pics of how she turned out. and no i didnt spray bomb it this time :)

was up in the air for awhile what color i wanted to go with the truck but after looking at alot of pics online i figured i would keep it simple and go with white
ill prob do the inside of the bed with the truck roll on liner

spay lol come on! i rolled it! thats right i rolled it on with a foam roller. idc what people think. so far its coming out good for what it is. not a bad looking truck from like 10 feet lol. but who cares its not a show truck nor do i want it to be. just got tired of the 3 different shades of black that it was.

today i wet sanded with 800 grit tomorrow ill do 1000 grit and if it looks good ill buff it and see how she turns out.

here is one i just took a few mins ago

after 800grit sand down and quick wash.

I've seen some pics on the web of cars rolled with Rustoleum, and they came out pretty damn good, especially once they were wetsanded.

HardcoreZ28 05-25-2011 08:45 PM

You need to wetsand down way past 1000 grit to get the sanding scratches out. I go all the way to 2500 or 3000 here but for a driver you may be able to get away with 1500 if you buff the hell out of it.

Is that really a roller job??

nice work!

Ive seen that a bunch of times and even in person once. It doesnt come out bad for what it is. Half thought about doing it for my firebird, but wont.

That site even shows the car a few years since the paint job.

Raist103 06-01-2011 12:43 PM

I did one of my old cars with the roller....wet sanded every two coats, did you thin your paint or just roll it on there?

emolineaux 06-04-2011 07:26 PM

i havent even had a chance to touch the truck since i posted pics. i did thin the paint down a little.

i still have sanding and buffing to do its just getting the free time to finish it thats taking forever. i have a camaro project im doing for someone along with rebuilding my shed, work and keeping up with other things around the house. i hope to have the truck all finished up this week if time allows it.
