And AFAIK, the state contracted the inspection centers so any time they failed a car, they made more money, which is why the state changed it back to what it is now.

This was my understanding... anyone know if this is fact?

and yea when they popped my hood and got under the dash i got pretty lit up... i should have gotten the supervisor and asked wtf they were doing.

Really sounds like your plug wire just popped off at the wrong place and wrong time.

I could only see that happening if it was a private garage back in the day to get your coin..theres no reason for them to fail a perfectly functioning car....they should be paid salary. All they ever did for me is enter vin in computer, place a reader on the vin by the windshield pillar, sniffer in the tailpipe and rev engine to desired rpm..then pull up for the visual under car camera (not in that order), pressurized test of gas cap and your done.

Parsons would fail cars for having an oil change sticker on their windshield back when NJ had safety inspections for all cars. Yeah, private shops are the ones doing it to get your coin :rollseye:

They have to plug into the obdII port so they have to get under your dash and find it. What's the GVWR as per the sticker on the truck?

8600

Yeah that should be a tailpipe test even though its obdII. They were looking for rpm signal I presume and I am unsure if they also scan the computer, I would think yes.

Quickie update since I mentioned it. The GTA went right through inspection today. Passed no problems. QQs can be held off for two years.

Thats why I said held off. What I meant was I wasn't gonna have to get QQs to drive the car because it passed. It is eligible for QQs in January. Because it passed I can drive it with normal plates and not worry about it.
