I should have mentioned shes looking to spend 11k or less and be newer then her car now which is an 01, lol

In that case, subaru impreza or wrx non-turbo....you can get a nice, low mileage one that wasn't beat on for that price.

Why not just buy a newer honda civic. They dont really break and get good mileage too.
