I'm not impressed. Regardless of being 800+/- lbs heavier than a C6Z, it makes an extra 200 horsepower and still doesn't cover the 1/4 mile any faster. (That 10.80 pass is not on stock tires).

Challenger appeals to me more than the z28. I'd have an easier time using that power on a more regular basis than I would the z28s road course handling prowess :D plus the challenger looks way better |
I love the challenger look and now the power to match!! It states that the motor is already coming out forged from the factory. That means a little more tweaking from the after market industry you will have an easy 800 plus horsepower beast to play with.

They are claiming you can get this car out the door for around $65,000! It's an amazing bargain and really going to hurt the ZL1.
|
The ZL1 Camaro weighs in over 4100 lbs. The current GT500 is about 3850 lbs. I don't think its fair to call this car overweight for being 4200-4300lbs. The ZL1 turns pretty well (I hear) and is only about 100 pounds less.

Problem is the power to weight, even at 10:1 lbs/hp, you would need 440hp in the Hellcat to keep up with a 350hp, 3500lb car. Obviously the gap get wider as you want to go faster. I went 127mph with my 550hp, 3500lb 3rd gen - imagine what another 150hp would do... |
I bet it will ride nice.
|
Another 1200lbs and you are at 3/4 ton truck level, be quite sad when this barge gets beat by a legit land barge.

Official Pricing came out. The Hellcat starting price is $59,995. I think thats a pretty good starting point.

So much awesome ignorance in this thread. Slap a pulley on it, race wheels with tires, and drop some weight then everyone in here will stfu. I don't understand how that is hard to comprehend. High 10's with a pair of tires is fuggin awesome for 60k!
|
60k?
I know for sure I spent less than that on mine, but again, the point you should be arguing is that it run 10s with a warranty. That and with factory nice stuff that all work as they should, and a prob awesome crash rating etc. Also, it prob has a very fancy launch control so driver error is effectively removed. |
and you can drive it across country.
i'm no dodge guy, but that is a neat car if you can get it for that price |

Let's see them on the street for reals. If this is the case, then chevy and ford need to step their game up. Maybe bring back a firechicken that can do 10s with a turbo ;)
|
Cool car, lots of power and not a bad price compared to the other pony car offerings. It will be interesting to see how closely what hits the streets resembles what is being promoted.

I think its awesome for 60 grand you get a 10 second car with warranty, and a forged motor you can throw around and beat on right from the factory. You can probably crank up the boost, add mufflers, and tune it and get a nice increase in horsepower without voiding your warranty.
|
60k for that car is amazing. even if its not on stock tires thats still a low 11 second car, with some really mean looks, modern technology and a pretty sweet interior. Honestly for those talking about modifying the car, I dont see the need...for a street car you dont need anything more than what this car is offering.
|
I'm surprised at the price. We all know out of the 3 muscle cars that the challenger has the most problems going around turns. Dodge is at least making it the fastest in a straight line at a price that I think makes it very competitive to a GT500 offering.

srt president/ceo (and all around cool guy Ralph Gilles) at Carlisle a week ago (I really wanted should've went..lol)...burnout contest w/the hellcat.
