But my wife loves her Edge, and the 3 people we recommended it to all love it as well. Just throwing it out there.

Upright seating
AWD
Flat trunk area and optional power hatch
No unnecessary 3 row seats
Rides like a car (a heavy car, but not rough like a more off-road SUV chassis)
Backup camera

Against my will - I drove a '14 Ford Edge to OBX and back this summer (dirt cheap rental, my brother in law works for Enterprise). I'm not a huge fan on the interior and exterior styling, but it was comfortable, drove well, had plenty of power, and enough space for all the crap my wife and kids bring on vacation. I wouldn't twist her arm, but it wouldn't hurt to let her sit in one and take it for a test drive.

Your mom sounds like a cool lady. See if you can talk her into a Hellcat Charger. Lol

I wish. lol, when they were looking for a car in 2001, I tried getting my parents to buy a 1996 Impala SS. I managed to get them to the dealer and even sit in it. Then my mom asked the salesman how it does in snow... He just looked at me and I knew my plan was shot down. My mom also wants me to get my '79 vette on the road so she can drive it, but that's YEARS away so we'll see.

I still haven't fixed the wheel bearing on her van, i'm hoping the wheel just falls off and we have to go car shopping now. But anyways, I think in 2-3 weeks we'll start visiting dealerships.

It's probably a good idea to let yer Mom get a taste of everything that's out there. Who knows, she might fall for something that isn't even on her radar yet. :)

After realizing she does not need an suv, she decided on a sedan after all.
We are picking up her new 2014 awd Cadillac ATS on monday. The rebates and incentives were just too good to pass up and having the full warranty of a new car was a major factor in buying new.

Colors? Options?

Obsession red exterior, caramel leather interior, awd, cold weather package(heated seats/heated steering wheel), power sunroof, parking sensors, rear view camera, 2.0 turbo automatic.

As of last week, my mom was decided on a "red awd cadillac". She liked how the ATS drove and its not-too-big size.

Yesterday at a different dealer, we looked at a used 2012 SRX(red too) but with 38,xxx miles. They were asking a grand less than we got the new 2014 ATS for. And the SRX had 2 auctions in its "one owner" history so we walked away.

A Caddy is just plain good. :)

Congrats on the pick up! I know they have been improving on some of the deals for the ATS. I fell in love with the CTS.
