Give the guy a break. Businesses raise money all sorts of ways, and sites like this allow people to raise money instead of getting robbed by a bank.
I took part in a kickstarter for a battery pack company that makes these advanced lithium ion mobile chargers that are practically indestructible. I donated my cash to help build up the company up and now they are big enough that they had a (very small) ad on during the Super Bowl. All businesses start somewhere. I know a lot of shops that get large lines of credit from auto parts stores and allow them to float that line for a bit till they can get off the ground. It's being part something. Best of luck to you and your small engine repair center. |
It's a lot of work starting from scratch, I'm doing the same thing. I started a year ago and I'm lucky I really have no overhead but making enough to cover the bills is hard enough. One thing I have learned, don't go to crazy spending on advertising. I have seen minimal returns on the stuff I do pay for, most business is from word of mouth. That takes time starting from nothing but doing the right job and in a timely manor has gotten me many referrals. That being said, I wish you the best of luck in your business!

Thanks. 99% of my business has been word of mouth. Even the government accounts and the school were recommendations from other customers and friends. I did do work for a vice president of some bank and she was very pleased with my work. She gave me her card and said if I needed anything to talk to her. I may just take her up on that.
