Lots of good input folks. I have no clue when the tint was installed or if its of any decent quality.

I wouldn't say that but its more so considered a challenge to him when I said it will probably be a mess.

I'm trying to remember, but I think I may have removed the tint from the rear hatch on the 96 SS I had. I guess it all comes down to how well it was installed in the first place on how easy it might come off. But if nobody is going to guarantee no damage to the defroster then it could be time to learn a new skill!

Only one technically said they "will do their best" with the defroster but I imagine this will be the disclaimer for anyone touching the car.

I had the Hellcat Xpel Ultimate done there and would have likely had them do the tint too except the guy who does it (owner), isn't in NJ most of the time. We exchanged a few back and forth emails but it was too much hassle to chase him for my business. I used Tropic Tint in Union and had very good results.

Bingo. With him living in Florida, scheduling isn't exactly easy. But, Lee's removal price isn't bad if also tinting, IIRC.

Lee flew in just to do my SRT10. I gots juice, I must say.

He flies in for almost everyone's vehicle and usually knocks out other work when he is at the shop.

Well then why were you beyotching that you couldn't peg him down? Guess he didn't fly out just for you like he did for me. You can't always be the biggest fish in the guppy tank...

I was told he wasn't sure when he would be in NJ and couldn't set an appointment. I would need to follow up with him later in the month to see if he was going to be in the area. You may chase folks to spend your money but not me, especially for a tint job. The guy that appeared to be there daily was nice and did a really good job on the clear bra though.

Yeah tonight I'm going to chase a guy down 287 and throw 100s at him. Lol. BTW the guy who bought my trucks really liked your lights. He has a Daytona Ram he might want hooked up.

i removed tints on my old tahoe and my old camaro. real pain in the ass. never did the rear window with the defrost tho. took a couple hours to do the front 2 windows with a heat gun / goo gone / windex / bunch of razer blades

I removed the old tint from a T/A hatch I purchased used. Because it wasn't mine, I had no idea how old the tint was or what quality. All I knew was that it needed to go.

I spent about 1 hour or so with a steamer in my garage, sweating my face off & trying not to rip the tint as I took it off. I was thrilled to get it off in only 3 pieces...

...until I realized that most of the glue was left behind. I spent more hours than I can count getting adhesive off that back window. Eventually I got it all off, but at the expense of my thumbs & the better part of a bottle of Goo Gone.

Pay someone.

You can't use something like kerosene or brake parts cleaner to remove the glue?

Blackbirdws6 12-10-2016 05:12 PM

So this happened..... my dad didn't see a reason to spend money so off he went in the hatch area with his steamer.

More like him challenging himself. It wasn't a question of whether it could be done, but whether it would take an hour or all day.

The_Bishop 12-10-2016 07:56 PM

That's awesome.

CLONE THAT MAN, from the position he was working in, my BACK would have given out in about 5 minutes:rofl:. You guys should form a Company and screw whatever your doing now. Just make up business cards "BRIAN CAN/ BUT MY DAD IS THE MAN"! All jobs are POSSIBLE/ the IMPOSSIBLE takes a little LONGER!:hail:
