Won't get worse than it already is in NJ.

I believe you are a LEO, so start telling your bosses how lousy the 2A infringements are in this god awful state.

Got my Firearms ID application yesterday. A guy in line said it took 5 months for his hand gun permit to come back

It depends on the township

If you have the forms still, sign up for at least two or three pistol permits.

Its the same paperwork and the permits will be good for 90 days after you receive your FID.

For me, Howell takes 2-3 weeks to process.

wretched73 10-04-2017 10:01 AM

I'm in Jackson and they claim that application requests are through the roof

LTb1ow 10-04-2017 10:08 AM

Make sure you hound your references and get them sent in asap

Does it say anything about firearm ownership being a privilege? And see if your references have anything about privilege on theirs too

This.

Not just because of current events but because of the governor's election.

No it doesn't say anything about being a privilege but it is perceived that way.

I was the reference for a friend and it literally said "is there any reason why this person should not be granted the privilege of firearms ownership"

Wow didn't know that it said that on the reference side.

Anti_Rice_Guy 10-04-2017 01:06 PM

Took me six months for firearms permit two years ago. And that's in the middle of nowhere Long Valley, NJ

That varies by corrupt township to corrupt township

I still have about 55 days left on an extra pistol permit I was given when I applied for just one back in August. the local Police Chief where I live was nice enough to give me an extra one, and I have yet to decide what to buy with it. Since I get free ammo from work for training purposes, (for .40 cal and .38) I am planning on getting something that fires one of those. I already have a Glock model 27 that uses the .40 and for the .38 I have a S&W model 642 5 shot revolver, and another 6 shot revolver that was bought in 1980 by my wife's grandfather and never fired even once. Also have some other guns as well but I am thinking I would like something else .40 cal that I can carry off-duty and also on-duty at work. Probably in the $350-$600 range. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to PM me them, or post here, but my idea was NOT to sidetrack this thread in any way, shape or form. After that purchase, I need to budget for a larger gun safe, and after that an AR-15

LTb1ow 10-04-2017 07:15 PM

Used/LEO trade in market is saturated with .40 these days. Its a crappy round to shoot if you can shoot 9mm

PolarBear 10-05-2017 07:53 AM

I don't like shooting my .40, maybe it's just because it is an S&W Shield and has a really short barrel, but I don't like it

bigz28man 10-05-2017 01:22 PM

My off duty glock 23 .40 cal. I enjoy it's small enough to conceal but it's not to small...meaning it's got the right weight to it. My duty weapon (glock 23 .45) is just a hand cannon but has nearly no recoil.

So who wants to do a USPSA match? I've been going to Old Bridge for a number of years now, I want to do one of their Carbine/Steel matches. (AR/Pistol)

LTb1ow 10-05-2017 04:45 PM

That sounds like it would be a good time. Iron sights on the carbine or glass?

SilverDropTop 10-07-2017 12:21 AM

We do the uspsa matches at my range here in SI. They're alot of fun.

They run two divisions for Optic or Irons. I've ran Irons before, but I have a Vortex red dot now. I just go for fun, I don't take the points seriously. I preferer USPSA over IDPA.
