look at my trucck it runs on three wires whats wrong with that
its not like it gonna be held together by two by fours

NJSPEEDER 02-08-2005 10:31 PM

liz, i don't know how to get it through to phil, matt, or ty that this isn't a test adn tune. these are competitive classes. to have competiton and keep it fair to all involved you need rules.
if they are interested in diving into competition and makign anything worth whiel happen they really need to look further into competition than jsut saying they want to be in one.

Think he'll toss the hoosiers on the SS/T's? They guys could give a demonstration on how to shatter a 10-bolt :D

- Justin

NJSPEEDER 02-11-2005 02:28 PM

hmm, maybe a $50 set of junkyard 3.73's can add to the fun as well :D
why bother setting lash, on the third launch it will just set itself. lol

EVIL90SS 02-11-2005 04:22 PM

well bad news....we might need to look for another car right now...robs dick boss dosnt wanna sell the car without a title....were workin on it though...anone have a camaro or firebird with no motor or trans in just ok shape they wanna sell for real cheap ???

NJSPEEDER 02-11-2005 04:48 PM

napolean(sp?) doesn't have anything laying around?

i will keep an eye out for you. i may know of a car, but most rollers go for a good bit more than the $50 you were gonna pay. expect 200-400 to be more common pricing.

wanna take a cruise to teh yards in the monring? maybe they have something there that will fit the bill

im down for junkyardin it...me and phil gata pick up the motor first though

DieselKickYoAss4Sure 02-11-2005 08:03 PM

well i pulled a muscle in my shoulder real bad so im not gonna do any heavy lifting but i wanna get the motor early and head right to the yard i guess, go scope some things out i found a car but its beet up and needs to many things like a hatch and i think a front sub frame but its free oh yea tim it has a factory fiberglass hood

i can get the back lash and run out close enough to what is supposed to be thats no problem i just need to find my dial indicator and a work bench to do it on. but the blazers came with 3:73 10 bolts in them if its not a posi ill make it one. "linclon locker" lincoln arc weld the spyders together

the tranny we picked up for it has the grunt to do it, with a 3500 stall converter he has for it. that thing is gonna be all about the launch

Fasterthanyou 02-11-2005 10:53 PM

Sounds like things are actually rolling together into something tangible.
What extension housing do you have on the th350? If you want to use a stock 3rd gen driveshaft you'll need to use the 9". If you have access to a driveshaft shop then ignore me :) .
Just curious, why the poncho motor? You could sell it and do a homebrew junkyard wars style 350... then the trans wouldn't bolt up, hmm... nevermind, I'm just interested so keep the updates coming.

EVIL90SS 02-12-2005 05:28 PM

hmmm...why the poncho motor..the idea behind that is ..dare to be different..i do have the adapter plate to put a chevy trans on a pontiac block but i got the good tranny with it so i couldnt complain

So why not get a used cheap gutted Firebird instead of a camaro :) . Then you won't be a bastard, you'd just be making a statement :P . Not that it really matters but I can honestly say I haven't seen a thirdgen firebird with a poncho motor!

Little G 02-12-2005 06:01 PM

camaros are lighter

BigAls87Z28 02-12-2005 06:48 PM

Always thought third gen fbirds are lighter, but you will have more hood clearance with the Camaro.
Gotta find that 1982 Iron Duke, 4spd manual, no options Camaro out in the world...

EVIL90SS 02-12-2005 06:56 PM

i like the bastard idea with the camaro.

i know where there are 2 birds that meet that basic description. :)
actually a later car woudl be better. gm switched to thinner floor steel and some point adn started using more glue and less panel overlap = lighter car :)

Yeah, my car is one of the quietest thirdgens as far as rattles but the floor pan is rotting out. I also added a stereo and the car's weight was only 3550 with me, that was with a/c and beefy suspension upgrades. The only weight reduction I had done to my car at the time was a hollow sway bar up front. Everything else I did added weight. Now's a different story.
Anyways, I'd still go for an earlier thirdgen because it'll be closer to the 25yr "classic". I've always seen a thirdgens in the j-yards when I've gone. I need to make a trip again to see the new stock. 2 years ago I found an awesome roller thirdgen. It was a firebird with 6-point cage and a Ford 12-bolt minus carrier but had axles and c-clip eliminators all intact. If I had room for it I'd have bought it, oh well.
How much are you guys looking to spend on the roller car? And do you need a clean title or is a salvage yard title cool? Do you even need a title if it's a track only car?

EVIL90SS 02-13-2005 05:08 PM

i would like to have a clean title..cause if this **** box turns out good...me and phil will beat it on the street too and tim...i dont give to ****s about weight....u know this

NJSPEEDER 02-13-2005 05:10 PM
