im pretty neutral about cops. my brother is a cop in the city and i do respect him for what he does. its the six figure meter maids on a power trip that i dont like. its safe to say that about 99% of the cops i delt with were the biggest douchebags on the planet at first, but once they realize that im not an ******* they change their attitude pretty quick. if i get pulled over, i dont feed them some ******** story. i just cooperate with them. because bottom line is, wether you like them or not, they are doing their job and its their word against yours. i just dont like their tuff guy attitude they get when they first talk to you, and they always seem to talk down to you. but at the same time i can understand why they do this. they deal with so many ******** on a daily basis that they pretty much have to deal with everyone like an ******* at first. so i cant really say i like them or i hate them, but i can say that we do need them.

Good luck with that outlook on things, is big brother out to get you too? |
If you cannot act mature please do not add crap to this thread. Original poster asked to keep it mature.

I'm in the middle. (would of been a no, but i'm friends with over 10 cops and legal officials now)
I'm friendly everytime I get stopped, and I tell them off the bat what I did was wrong....they encouter liars and bull****ters all the time; this I understand. Only twice I have run into complete dirtbags, and I've been stopped ALOT(both times not in my trans am go figure). My Westville stop made me go to school to be one, 5 classes and hopefully I get sponsored in the academy. Its my goal to be the complete opposite of the Westville prick. |
Westville cops=teh suck. So do a lot of Brooklawn cops.

I voted yes. I am currently finishing up with my degree in hopes of being a full time LEO, currently I am a part time SLEO II. I have had many encounters with the police, some good some bad. When I had a bad encounter I always told myself when I become a LEO I am not going to act like that officer. For the most part if you are respectful and don't give the officer a hard time they will respect you. They are there to do a job just like everyone else and go home at the end of the shift.

I've done some pretty stupid stuff, never been caught so I can't really say. My only time that I had a run in with a cop I was when I had my old Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme...My dad and I were just going to breakfast after dropping off my brother at a friends house. About to pull from a sidestreet to the main road, a cop comes flying down the road, points at me, holds up his hand to stop me, then comes in, whips a 180 and pulls up behind me. He comes up to the window and asks where I came from. I told him the street name, and story, He then leans in to examine me for the truth, sees my dad, calms down and asks if he can examine the car for damage (apparently a red Oldsmobile had hit a mailbox and was throwing stuff at houses). He comes back, says I'm very sorry for the inconvenience and says have a nice day. At first I was like WTF, does he really think that my dad and I go out smashing mailboxes for fun? Looking back, I would've done the same thing had I been in his shoes. So while limited, I have nothing against cops.

i voted neutral. I've had both good experiences and bad experiences. In the bad ones the cops see a teenager and just automatically assume your a complete juvenile *******/delinquent. I'm always respectful to cops cause i understand that their job is hard enough as it is, but when you get one that is an ass to you just cause you're a teenager it doesnt help the overall image. I've had one cop go out of his way to help me out but most have been douchebags. They see an 18 year old behind the wheel of a trans am and automatically stereotype 7 shades of **** out of you. I know that not all of them are like that and dont generalize so I'm not sayiing i dont like cops and im not gonna say i do, it depends upon the individual

It's like racism; experiences with one or two individuals can (incorrectly) cloud one's opinion for the whole group. Cops are no different from anyone else - there are good ones and bad ones, nice ones and pricks. I'm a big fan of LEO when I need one, I'll tell you that.

I have had my fair share of run in with the law. Sometimes while driving, some times while jsut minding my own, and some times while perusing some manner of youthful stupidity.
I have only had 2 bad experiences in all of my years that I would call negative. 1: Once I had the joy of of sitting on the side of the road after being pulled over, I was going a bit fast for the area, and then sitting there while my car was searched and my ID was checked by no less than 5 cops. It was a joy to get out of class on time and getting to work an hour late without even getting a ticket. They were all very courteous, but honestly, how many times does a guy need to answer "What is your full name?", "Do you have an older brother?", "You know your haircut is a lot different in this picture?" blah blah blah blah. It was like they had a damn script, same questions, using the same words over and over again. 2: This is a story that I don't have space to type in detail. Basically I got pulled over, after I had parked, for "pulling away from a light awefully hard" in a dead stock 91 RS w/LO3. The cop then made the mortal error of asking me how much my car "cost mommy" when it was my name on the registration and insurance. The cop was a tool, I scolded him in public after he asked the question and told me he could make up whatever he wanted and put it on a ticket. After my stop at 7-11, where I was parked when I got "pulled over", I went straight to the police station with his name and badge number and filed an official complaint. Every other time I can think of either the cop was super cool or I got exactly what I deserved for whatever I was doing. I would say that the coolest cop I have had major interaction with was when my Alero got totaled. Cop knew I got rocked pretty good in the accident, never let me stop talking, never let me walk around, asked if I was ok about a million times, and made sure the ambulance was called and I got to the hospital ok. Yes, I know there are cops out there who are a-holes and just trying to make up for whatver locker they got stuffed in as a kid, but I believe that 99% of them get into the job for the right reasons and try their best every day. It has to be tough to try to protect a society that is so openly over run by crooks and stupidity and not lose faith. Thank you and God bless to those who protect and serve. -Tim |
I voted yes, but i live in Vernon and the cops here are hypocrites, but i got pulled over by a state trooper and i just told them the truth that yea i was talking on the cell phone and speeding. They let me go without a ticket and they told my dad, so i took most of the punishment from my dad.
but vernon cops(not all of them) are complete jerks. they have the beleif that they are above everyone. One of their kids got caught drinking at a school event and nothing happened to this kid. Theres a bunch of reasons i have for not liking vernon cops, but overall the i like cops, don't really have a problem with them even when they follow me in w/e car im in(lol sure they may target me because i drive a mustang or F-body, but im not doing anything wrong so i have nothing to worry about:moon:) |
i love cops! sat. nights 8pm on fox:mrgreen:
i treat cops with respect even if i did nothing wrong. they are just doing their job. i love how people trash on cops but they won't hesitate to call them when they need them!!! people bitch about getting pulled over for no reason at all. but how do you know that a car/person fitting your description was'nt involved in something and the cops are just making sure it was'nt you. i will say that there are some prick cops out there. but don't ask for trouble and it won't find you. |
Ive never really had a big problem with them, if youre respectful to them they usually give it right back. Only one time i really had a problem with one was when i was pulled over for having no front plate....he literally was coming up behind me straddling the double yellow lines, all lights on, and siren too. on a 35mph residential area road. going at least 50+, for absolutely no reason. then he asked..."your car is a little loud, whats up with that?" in a bright blue foxbody mustang....HMMMMMMM

Like every other profession, there are good ones and there are bad ones.

Well besides automobile incidents, I have encountered police in these other spots: when my dad tried killing my mom, my brothers bike got stolen, I witnessed an accident, a girl was raped on my front yard, everytime I go to the gym at the police station, the neighbors were shooting fireworks at my house, hit and runs in my driveway, a guy tried running me off the road, etc.....the only time I had a problem with a cop was when they took over 30 mins to get to my house when my mom was being strangled. Other then that, cops are great.

i dont really want to post my story online but i had an instance where a police officer literally changed my life. he actually made me steer in the direction of law enforcement for my future career, to actually try to help other people like he helped me. he also made me realize on my own the path i was choosing at that time was the wrong way to go, after that i ended up getting better grades and stopping all the stupid stuff. he really helped me out and i dont even know if he knows it..
yeah, ive ran into some real jerk officers but honestly, they are human and allowed to have bad days too, and some people are just a-holes but thats life. but bottom line, they do their job and protect us, and today they may be writing you a ticket, and the next day taking a bullet for you, or pulling you out of a burning car. to all LEO on here thank you for doing the jobs that you do |
