NastyEllEssWon 06-09-2009 11:17 AM

honestly ill remember the words the guys at mufflex said when they saw my true duals that i have.....''holy crap you have 500 lbs worth of exhaust for a 400 hp car''

its true man. save the money. save the weight. get that thing moving at least past where stock lt1's are running. youve modded your car, increased your trap but lowered your 1/4 mile. why not work on that....and its almost free...just cost of track time

Good call nasty.

Woah.

Being reminded of wayfast. fml.

I was just thinking of cheap alternatives to a cat back. And I would imagine an X pipe would be lighter than a stainless catback no?

Well, what's wrong with the performance of your exhaust system now? Weight does not count, and noise is easily changed.

Yeah, I thought the WF thing might be a bit much, but it is eerily reminiscent.

JerzLT1 06-09-2009 01:05 PM

Duals with dumps are lighter then a full cat back, I used to DD a car with true duals with just full bolt-ons. I agree that you should work out some bugs because you should be trapping higher butif you want to do exhaust then it's your car and do what you want

sweetbmxrider 06-09-2009 01:07 PM

that muffler on there now is definitely holding back some IMO

LTb1ow 06-09-2009 01:54 PM

Yea its a tiny muffler compared to most.

B&B triflow.

98tadriver 06-09-2009 02:16 PM

bah just run a single straight pipe from the Ypipe all the way out to the back

LTb1ow 06-09-2009 02:17 PM

Thats an idea I was throwing around, but would I be able to run it at the track like that?

I know your car is that way so idk.

You are going to ditch a $1000 Billy Boat exhaust for a Summit X-pipe?

LTb1ow 06-09-2009 02:21 PM

Yea... well I have mentioned I few times I would not be cutting it up or selling it.

I wonder if I can find what it flows.

at Atco, youll be fine. thats the only track i run at and dont have any problems lol.

LTb1ow 06-09-2009 02:23 PM

Yea I have the older version, so no flow numbers on their website.

What is your config? Headers/high flow cats/B&B?

LTb1ow 06-09-2009 02:36 PM

LTs, ORY, B&B.

MonmouthCtyAntz 06-09-2009 02:46 PM

Dude if I read your mod list correctly your running a llyold head and Cam package w/ a stall..Only trapping 105 I think your problem lies deeper then some weight issues or a catback choking up your setup...BB triflo is one of the best out there. I ran close to your traps in my 97 w/ cai, shorty headers, and a flowmaster catback.

NastyEllEssWon 06-09-2009 02:50 PM

i trapped 104 last year in my stock z28

i think you need to take another look at that pcm for less tune.

LTb1ow 06-09-2009 02:51 PM

I have a mod list somewhere? LOL

Yea, I would say its 100% driver fail. Its been driven for a year now, so if it was something internal I think it would have failed already. No leaking fluids internally, very good oil pressure, and good tires.

I am talking to my tuner now, so he is tweaking the tune and adding in the change for gears, which hopefully will help.

With any luck, I will pull off the muffler like Ron suggested and bring it to the track again.

But all things aside, I kinda posted this thread mainly to see if an X pipe was a viable option to making my car a bit louder... B&B may be great, but its very tame.

Yea that was a LS1...Im talking my old a4 LT:mrgreen:. Hotcam / sniffer friendly cam only cars usually trap around 107-109ish so you should atleast be running that..How aggresive is the cam? It might be the tune but I highly doubt it has anything to do w/ your catback.

LTb1ow 06-09-2009 02:56 PM

Its a tiny muffler, like tiny.

And my cam is well, not a small cam, and not a huge cam.

Physical size is not an accurate indicator of performance. I installed 2 3.5" Dynomax bullets on a Chevelle (big enough to easily push a tennis ball through) and they are only 18" long and 5" in diameter.

NastyEllEssWon 06-09-2009 03:00 PM

i know its night and day with ls and lt...i was just saying thats a stock car. he has heads and cam. you only ran it once too iirc man....stop trying to ''fix'' poop and actually see where you can get it with practice.

LTb1ow 06-09-2009 03:01 PM

I am not sure whether I said it or not, but if the idea here is than an X pipe will solve everything and get me into the 13s, then sorry, the original intent was just to have a lighter, and louder sounding exhaust.

I dunno, those two reasons would not be good enough justification to replace your existing system. In my opinion of course.
