well if & when i get this back together who should i have tune it? any suggestions on the right place to do a big cam boosted meth injected lq9?

Anti_Rice_Guy 08-10-2009 09:54 PM

How about one of the club sponsors to the right?

BigAls87Z28 08-10-2009 09:56 PM

A name from the past...yikes...

Tru2Chevy 08-10-2009 09:56 PM

Same here with nothing good coming from cartek. Foff667 had some "bad luck" with them, taught himself how to tune, started his own tuning business, and now he works for HP Tuners.

Hope they do something for you if it is found to be their fault, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Your not on a SD tune are you?

S.J.SLEEPER 08-10-2009 10:17 PM

yes its a speed density tune !!!

and just to add to post...... just got the valve covers to make sure a valve wasn't stuck open or somethin crazy like that... so definitly the conrods are bent cause i can only rotate engine about 120 degrees and it locks up.

FIcamaroRE92 08-10-2009 10:17 PM

not the first ******** that came from cartek

S.J.SLEEPER 08-10-2009 10:18 PM

speed density tune bad?
thought was good , cause now the computer reads boost pressure and is able to better map the car as driven.

NJ Torque 08-10-2009 10:21 PM

one of my GNs is SD, other is MAF... each have there ups and downs..

JL8Jeff 08-10-2009 10:27 PM

Lots of bad stories from Cartek. SD should work just as well as MAF tuned. That suks big time. Nothing worse than planning out a build, taking the time to do it and :hitfan:

Curt if you need help let me know, I'd be more than willing to help you get the engine back up and running.

LTb1ow 08-10-2009 11:08 PM

Angry phone calls, threats of lawyers, etc.

That friggen blows.

B4C 08-10-2009 11:13 PM

HYDRO-LOCKED!!! That really blows. They would have already have gotten an earfull if that was my car.

NJ Torque 08-10-2009 11:33 PM

no warranty on anything...

Jersey Mike 08-10-2009 11:51 PM

Yeah, it's a scary moment when you sign that paper. All I could think of was, "So if they **** up my car, I'm SOL?" (not talking about cartek specifically).

Hum the dealer I used to work at wasnt like that. I dont think I would take my car to a place that wouldnt fix it if it was clearly there fault it broke, but then again no one touches my cars except for me.

S.J.SLEEPER 08-11-2009 12:57 AM

i think the worst thing is about this whole ordeal, is that i built this car to have the best of both worlds. lots of power w/ all the bells & wistles (p-steerin & a/c etc..) haha. drove like a stock Z under normal operation & then the minute i put my foot in it, it felt like i was steering a friggin rocket ship.
full street trim
fully street legal
a little bass in the hatch
OH OH OH IT WAS SO NICE......... FOR AN HOUR !!!
i actually felt like i was 15 yrs younger and single again. f***me back to reality i guess.

sweetbmxrider 08-11-2009 07:17 AM

thats ****ed up

i wonder if the a/c had anything to do with the injector issue. i remember you were having issues there.

JerzLT1 08-11-2009 08:24 AM

Did you assemble the engine yourself or did they do everything?

they did not build the motor.
and just for everybodies peace of mind, it is a 100% not my fault.
either problem w/ their tune telling injectors to open when key on or bad injectors from f.a.s.t. .
not likely to have all bad injectors so you make the call.

by the way only way engine can get fuel in it is via injector opening or ruptured regulator (checked regulator nothing wrong & no fuel in the vaccuum line.) it is a aeromotive boost refenced reg.

btownws6 08-11-2009 10:58 AM

wow very sorry to hear about that i hope it all works out

JerzLT1 08-11-2009 11:17 AM

But since they didn't do all of the work they can claim that you messed something ip and are just trying to pass the buck. I would speak with a lawyer asap

jims69camaro 08-11-2009 11:55 AM

so if you tell the injectors to work beyond their supposed safe workload they can stick open? but you have more injector than you need, so how could that be the culprit? if it does end up that it's the tune that's bad, i would want to know about that; since i am still considered a dinosaur (i use a screwdriver to tune my cars).

NJ346 08-11-2009 12:47 PM

make sure to post this on LS1tech too. The larger the audience, the better chance you have of getting things done.

V 08-11-2009 03:23 PM

i hydrolocked my motor in aug 05.
a gas station had put a diesel mix in my fuel, causing the injectors to stick wide open.
I was spraying raw fuel out my tailpipes, it was that bad.
I replaced #3 injector which i found was wide open constant at key on, then tried starting it, i had missed #1 which had already filled the cylinder.
With the whole crankcase filled with fumes and fuel from washing out the cylinders and all, when it went, it blew out the oil pan and a section of the block...
..could never prove it was the stations fault, but i got my extended warranty to cover it

hopefully you get some answers and it works out in ur favor

BTW my car got back on the road Arpil 2007, and has yet to be tuned because i never trusted the big shops. but i be having it done in sept finally.
