well.... they've finally ruined their flagship car by putting those tail lights on the corvette..
|
That literally is the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my entire life
|
Time to start shopping for a C6Z...
|
Blah blah blah, enjoy your 4th gens.
This car is going to be stunning. I cannot wait to see it in the flesh. |
I am also a firm believer that pictures do not do new cars any justice. I hated the C6 when I saw the first pics of it. Saw my first one in person right after they came out and loved it...

I think the renderings are likely not too accurate. They likely have the general shape correct but the details look too busy IMO, something they wouldn't risk doing for this car.

There is a healthy aftermarket available to trash up a vette. GM doesn't need to spend it's money doing the same.

And a Drakkar Noir air freshener. |

I'm liking the new look. It seems to me, GM is going after a specific market of "supercar" people with this new C7. The C6, even with its impressive specifications, never appealed to the type of person that shops for Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, etc; it appealed to "muscle car" guys. With the Camaro being a pretty impressive bang-for-buck car, there is no need to have a Corvette aimed at that same market. Pictures/posters of this car will be hanging up in teenagers' rooms.
|
Same market? Corvette topped at 115,000 this year
Yay for teenagers rooms. They don't buy the cars |
A person that shops for a ferrari or lambo will NEVER buy a vette b/c its under the gm umbrella...the same insignia as a sonic. What they hope to do is possible pull some market share away from the sl550 or bmw-z roadster group (a stock vette vers a z roadster or grandsport vrs an sl550). With a hot design they may be able to make more buyers stray..they did it w/the c4, c5 and furthermore w/the c6 for more of everyday usage type vehicle. Its all in a manufacturers nature to pull an already established design and work off that....a hyundai genesis couple looks very similar to a g35/37. Making it look like an aston martin or lfa isn't a horrible thing to do, just have to do it the right way...i hope they succeed.

The viper is damn sexy. Damn sexy. I am interested in actually seeing a real car to give my true opinion but that rendering is hideous. I'm a fan of the exotic/euro look too but that is god awful.
|
im with adam on this one... if that rendering is anywhere even near what the new vette will look like, i dont care for it.

as seen on http://www.corvetteonline.com/news/i...e-c7-corvette/ i really cant stand it. i like the tails on the camaro but not the vette |
Wow they released the back render? Imo thats not as bad as I thought...
|
Finally a good shot of the rear. This car is going to look very exotic, yet very American and in the end, very Corvette.
So happy that settled on this design. |
im sure once it comes out for a little while people will get more used to it and accept it as the new design.. but i dont see anything in that rear end rendering that speaks anything corvette... all cars german japenese and american are slowly beginning to look like each other. kinda of sad if you ask me.
|
370z rear roofline like i said.

I don't know how to explain the rear, but it looks like it was squashed together, instead of flaring out, giving it a disproportional look. I'm guessing they are going for a little more european flare, but they'd be best to stick with the wide hips. I'm guessing it deals with the tail lights, their grouped too close together. Hopefully these are nothing but guess, or first round renderings, and that they improve upon the proportions. The Viper Has been hanging on kids walls since it's renderings and unveiling in 1989, and has done nothing but made tongues in peoples mouth roll out. I will say that the most recent generation before production was ceased was not to my liking, and was bland, but a first generation GTS will always be on my want list till the day I'm rolling in the dirt 6 feet under. This current generation that I got the chance to see at the NYIAS and at Laguna Seca in both road and race form, I spent a combined amount of time of about 30 minutes looking at them, and I would of looked more but the wife was getting impatient. I can guarentee you that this current generation Viper will only be gray if you paint it that color. And to compare the Viper to the Corvette is really Apples to oranges. The Viper is an exotic, and the Corvette is an affordable sports car, enough said. |
