I didn't doubt you. I am a gypsy in Lawrenceville now and my dad told me when he got home.

Southbound Thruway rest stop at Sloatsburg is only 40 minute wait. My sister just filled up there.

Gov. Christie announces odd-even rationing for gasoline

Odd-even fuel sales will take effect in the following counties at noon on Saturday, Nov. 3: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Monmouth, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.

MyFirstZ 11-02-2012 09:59 PM

I guess that counts for us in ny getting gas in jersey.

maroman88 11-02-2012 10:24 PM

fyi, most of the stations on 17 in paramus have run out and closed

townsend 11-02-2012 10:35 PM

thank god i live by pa, i just hop over and get some. good luck to you guys

redsoxsstink 11-02-2012 11:28 PM

dont understand what the odd even rationing will do, its still the same amount of people getting gas.

MyFirstZ 11-03-2012 05:51 AM

Just filled up waited about 30-40 minutes without searching. Was going to try everyones suggestiong but I was able to roll into the station. Lines are going to be rough today

So... not that it really matters, but my curious mind wants to know... it mentions nothing bout diesel...

This is the only thing I can see that would encompass diesel.

"Once in effect, all retail dealers of motor fuel will be required to only sell motor fuel for use in a passenger automobile bearing license plates, the last number of which is an even number, on even numbered days of each month."

But anywhere else in the article specifically says gasoline.

Blackbirdws6 11-03-2012 09:24 AM

Seems like fuel is fuel. I could perhaps fill the bird everyday since its a vanity plate with the last digit also being even :)

Theoretically, it should be half the amount of cars waiting on line each day - it worked in the '70s, albeit there were a lot less cars on the road BITD.

in theory in the 70s yes.... now? no. back then most plates end in a number. now, and since the 80s most are letters. even if you figure half are letters and half are numbers... then 50% of numbers are even 50% are odd. then 100% of letter plates are considered "odd". so now you have a 75% odd vs 25% even.

All our gas stations are up and running here in Bucks Co. Good luck guys.

JL8Jeff 11-03-2012 10:34 AM

I filled up at Picerno's in Ewing last night, no wait after 8pm. There are lines in the middle of the day though.

I was under the impression that it was based off of the last number on the plate, not necessarily the last character, and only plates with all letters would be considered odd (not something like XYZ 88K)

ah ok, they have since clarified that. Last night everything i read said plates ending in a letter or vanity plates are all "odd"

evens it out a little better but still rediculous imo.

MyFirstZ 11-03-2012 12:00 PM

Syphoned some cars at work so I have an extra 5 gallons along with a full tank maybe that will hold me off until this nonsense goes away

2kblackgtp 11-03-2012 02:32 PM

Sooo to clarify, odd days are sun, tues, thurs, sat?

And then they repeat for next week? Or is a constant odd even alternation? Kinda annoying I have no gas and cant even go until monday if thats the next even day

creeper 11-03-2012 02:54 PM

I thought just the day of the month, today being the 3rd would make it an odd day

I went to check on my boat and the marinas gas pumps were working but there was nobody there to buy gas, so I filled up the jug in my car

creeper 11-03-2012 06:11 PM

23 isn't too bad

I waited 40 minutes for Hess by Outback, the Getty was open, Delta was just getting a tanker and opening, and the Lukoil was getting a tanker also it looked like

MyFirstZ 11-03-2012 06:22 PM

Looks like we will survive ! Watching the day after tomorrow now, glad this wasn't snow !

Went to newburgh this morning..got up late....booked ass up there and at 9am only 5 cars in line...only regular though. Some guy in a nice 5th gen cammed had to leave but he could've just thrown octane boost in there to compensate...or not romp on it in getting around. Up the thruway and a ways off an exit should yield good results for anyone interested. Had a contact up therre verify availability. Its a shame one of my guys in Albany stated LI and nj'ers were camping out in the parking lot of harbor freight earlier in the week for gas cans and generators.

BigAls87Z28 11-03-2012 08:24 PM

Ocean Twp is up and running on Rt 35.

The Gulf by Middlebrook is open, but the line was down to Deal Rd.
The Monmouth Express is open as well, and it was a block away with little to no line

The Sunoco on 35 and Sunset was jammed and traffic was being controlled by police. I filled up the gas cans today for the store's generator.

Costco has gas as well. Not sure of the status of the one in Brick, but the one in Ocean just opened up yesterday.
