there is videos on you tube of a 7 second mustang taking a trip to burger king, is that a street car?

there is people that tow their bone stock grand nationals to the track, are they race cars?

7 second mustang- I have seen that video and I think it's a grey area where a car becomes a street/race car.

A street car in my mind is a car that can be used as a DD if called upon and still gets atleast 10 mpg. 10's aren't that hard to get outta a n/a stroker, throw a power adder on there and your in the 9's. It just takes money.

people who tow bone stock cars to the track=stupid. I laugh at those people who instead of spending money on their cars, they spend it on tow vehicles and trailers.

JSPERFORMANCE 06-10-2009 08:41 PM

If building a 9 second car is so easy, why don't you do it?

i could have spent the money i paid for the trailer on the car, but then how many more times would have have been stranded than the three i already have?

laugh if you want, but last i checked its not your money

its not a grey area, the car had a parachute and wheelie bars, spindle mount front wheels and a 25.5 cage. it is not a street car

that comment wasn't meant to be a knock on you mike. Your car isn't stock and has broken at the track=makes sense to have a trailer if you can afford it.

Js- I already said it takes money...money I don't have. If you wanna keep going back and forth...how fast were you going down the 1/4 when you were 17?

stock cars can break...they are just less likely to break than a modified car. Btw, the car in the example given came with a pretty beefy rear from the factory.

JSPERFORMANCE 06-10-2009 08:51 PM

17? Huh lets check the time silps...

Have to go way back. It was like 12 years ago..

11.86@112.4mph Atco Raceway 3/28/97 9:38pm 1973 VW Super Beetle, 2360cc type 1 engine, M/T ET Streets, also was my ONLY car at the time not just my "daily driver". And I drove it to the track because I had no other way to get there which is the main reason I now tow to the track when I am racing.

...what does the rear have to do with anything? You said you laugh at stock cars being towed to the track but you said it's OK for Mike to tow his car because he broke it....

I'm still trying to figure out where a "beefy rear" comes into play. I wasn't talking about any particular car....you're grasping at straws due to a retarded comment. If someone want to tow their car then let them tow their car

I drive my car plenty on the street, put 2800 miles on it last summer I think. I choose not to drive my car to the track because if something breaks I do not wish to have to scramble for a tow or bug a favor to get a trailer to pick me up. Not having to cart around tools all the time is nice as well. I also enjoy being able to sit in the A/C while waiting between rounds.

Seems like some one is a bit hostile?? Please tell me this isn't because he bought a monster clutch instead of one of your "custom" clutches.

Good god. This thread now sucks.

Knipps 06-10-2009 08:56 PM

This thread was interesting, now everyone's taking things personally and making insults.

You do know Mikes car isn't stock right? I brought up the drivetrain because that's what normally goes in a car when racing it. You don't see too many stock cars blow the motor at the track:rolleyes:

I'm well aware of Mike's mods. You're grasping at straws...if people want to tow their cars to the track so they don't have to find a ride home IF something breaks who the hell cares? It seems like you're some racing expert now at 17yrs old. I wouldn't bother going through the trouble of towing a stock car to the track but hey, to each their own.

Dude, don't bother, the 17yr old racing expert will just keep talking in circles, lol.

We can look up posts, I called your car a race car because it had no airbags(or atleast I thought it didn't have them). You don't remember that vid a few months ago when my friend called his car a "real car" because it got traillered home...I ragged on him to about it. I'm not trying to pick a beef with you mike.

Ok, why are you attacking me? I said nothing to you. Btw, I'm 18 now, get your facts straight.:moon:

Ok, fine 18!!!! I'm not attacking you but you're laughing at people that are taking precautions...maybe you're jealous that they CAN afford a nice car, a tow vehicle and a trailer, who knows. I just thought it was funny that you kept changing what's a street car, what should be trailer, what's a race etc.

Everyone is in it to have fun, there's no need to laugh at people..unless of course it's some silly ricer.:mrgreen::mrgreen:
