All done !! Besides the tune and alignment but its running and its home in my garage .
Sadly the rear bumper got scratched from hitting something while going up and down on the lift that wasn't seen. Gonna see what I can do about touching it up but it may have to get it redone. Hopefully it will be tuned tomorrow after work and it will most definitely be tuned at work tomorrow, can't wait to see how it performs http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps75d3f8c5.jpg |
Two things:
1) How bad is the rear bumper scratch? That sucks considering how flawless the front clip was, and how nice the body looked. I wonder if it's actually bad, or if it's just your OCD again... 2) Second thing: Leave the Kia at home Saturday/Sunday. We're gonna get some break-in miles out of the way ;) |
Can't really drive to much before the tune. It will stall at every stop
and its bad. The only one that can't be buffed is because paint is missing. Going to take some attention to detail with touch up paint but i think i can get it decent |
That is a nice garage sir.

I agree! wish it was mine.
what you cant see is my buddies 71 nova 383 w/ t56 in the bay to the right in the dark. |

Well I guess i should give you guys an update.
Car is down at the moment but ran well for 3 days before I started noticing a tick thinking it was either a lifter or some other valvetrain noise. Started tuning the car but found the injectors were maxed out. 104% duty cycle at 6200 rpms. Not going to cut it. So I have bosch 42lb/hr injectors, 85mm truck MAF with the adapter wire coming in. Since we couldnt tune it any further for wide open pulls we decided to call it a night. Brought it to work the following day and found the "tick" was louder then ever. So as soon as I got back home I pulled the valve covers and checked to make sure nothing backed out. Tried spinning the pushrod and everythnig was tight. Upon further inspection I found a cracked spring on the intake valve I believe on the second to last cylinder on the right (passenger side). Not sure what the order is on our motors Contacted TSP and was immediately contacted back. Based on the mileage they suggested I just replace the one valve spring. (if anymore break I will demand a new set or refund and put it towards brian tooley dual springs) Also was prompt to recheck pushrod length even though they suggested the 7.4 based on the specs of the build. gasket thickness, lifters, heads and cam which were all purchased through them same order. So tomorrow when i get back form vacation I can check for the correct length..... At zero lash it took 1.5 turns to torque to 22 ft lbs. They insisted this was infact to much prelaod on the lifter and i should be no more then 1 turn. Thought this was weird based on everything I read. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psa83aa0c4.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps21846850.jpg |
Man that sucks. Glad you were able to find the issue though. I won't be around when you bring it back to finish the tune but I'm glad I was able to see/ride in it the first go around. The whole build from the paint to the interior to the suspension came out great
|
thanks a lot man!
yeah glad I found it before I let it slide. you'll hear the final outcome don't worry. |
Can't wait to see it! Let me know if you need a hand with anything.
|
will do.
not in suffern anymore. In Pomona for a few more weeks till the new house is ready in pearl river. |

And the offer still stands. Pomona and Pearl River are both just a hop, skip, and a jump away. My cousin is usually willing to lend a hand too if you need manpower. |
Tapping noise si finally gone and allowed me to blow some more money.
Still waiting on the new throttle cable to eliminate traction control. Tuning will be done on Saturday. Couldn't finish last time since at WOT the injectors were maxing out The billet throttle is absolutely gorgeous and comes in a nice blown plastic case similar to handguns http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psb21c2a44.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps0cf87249.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps1f0b8289.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps499dad78.jpg |

I bought it off tick performances website with the intake and throttle. Paul I have very little stock parts as far as engine. I have mainly the old suspension really. the only left overs of any value to me is the maf, injectors, lid, pushrods and intake/ tb |
The intake looks great in black, nice job with the build. What vsprings do you have that cracked?
|
Thanks !
PRC .675 duals, came assembled on the heads I wanted to change the whole set but they seem to be fine now. I'll keep an eye on them every so often. When I do the coil relocation it will be a matter of seconds to get the valve cover off and inspect. |
Removed the second air system, it was deactivated and the new FTP lid isn't going to be and isn't cut for it.
Removed the traction control since I put the direct cable. Seems a little snappier. Maybe there was some unwanted slack or just because of pure length to the TC motor. Removed cruise control since that hasn't worked in 50k Still a lot of cleaning to do in there. Thinking about buying another harness and putting all new connectors and taking out what Isn't used anymore. May gut the glove box and move the PCM into there. A lot of ideas going through my head to make it nice http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps3c7c4723.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps33a70157.jpg |
Looks good.
|
