The Haddonfield police department has an SS. Looks mean. That's the only SS I've ever seen.
|
p/a police have the impala's, but ss's are unicorns in my daily travels.

Is the 'police package' just a rebadged ss though?

I've seen a Porsche 959, but never an SS - even at larger dealerships... |

Comes with a 3.6 V6 or 6.0 V8 |

think theyre still packaged as 9c1 for marked units and 9c3 for detective/stealth units?

I havent actually seen an SS out in the wild yet. I've seen the caprice cop cars but no SS's sadly. Theyre not bad looking cars but I like the boxy cutoff look of the chargers snout more than I like the bulbous front end of the SS in the pics. I have no doubt that it probably looks tons better in person, but the charger's are just really nice. Adam's point is probably the biggest kicker of them all...you get the power and performance thats practical and comes with a warranty. In the price range the amount of pro's for the Hellcat can't be ignore :D

I've never seen the SS on the street but I did see one in the showroom at Lester Glenn a few months back. Pictures really don't do it justice. It is a bad ass car with a pretty good bang for the buck. And it sounds really good exhaust wise. Idk what Chevy is doing but the exhaust on the Chevy sports cars has come a long way from sounding weak and pathetically quiet to sounding just down right manacing and pretty loud for a factory car.

Correct. The 9c3 comes with a full console, cloth seats and rear seat, and full sized hubcaps. |
I work in Skillman just north of Prineton and the Montgomery Police have marked Caprices as well unmarked black ones. Someone in the next office complex has a white SS. I can see how they are easy to mix up until you see them on a regular basis. On the subject of the thread I can tell you 460 hp is plenty for the chassis of the C7 and couldn't imagine having an extra 190 on tap.

sounds like a driver error to me.. glad they are replacing it under warranty, i always thought GM took care of corvette owners under warranty. |
I'm sure GM will be looking into the issue and pulling PCM data to see what went wrong. Why do you think it was driver error?
|
me thinks he missed a shift..

Unless it was a mechanical over rev, hitting the limiter shouldn't result in a catastrophic failure. I have to believe they have some general protection from this with current performance vehicles. Maybe not...
|
this is true, im sure the "black box" in the car is always monitoring something so i wouldn't be surprised if that is reviewed when determining the reason for failure.
