I have no poinion on the port issue at all.. i havent followed it one bit to even know or start to care about it, lol.

Actually, the beginning topic was about the "add to buddy list" option on the board. So technically, there was a topic to begin with. Haha.

the ports will not change at all now that they've been sold. all the middle eastern company does is run the book keeping end of the trading, nothing more. US customs still has complete control over what comes in and goes out.

like i said before...goes from soemthing to nothing to something to nothing again :shrug:

don't worry about it matt, he's just trying to make himself feel better :)

why? they dont have any control over what goes through the ports. If something from another country is coming into ours, it is mandatory that a federal agency (customs) are the ones that check everything out. Just because a middle eastern company owns the ports doesnt mean they have any effect on what is allowed through. its kind of like the "adopt a highway" thing. Its your stretch of highway, but you CAN NOT do whatever you want with it.

that company owns ports all over the world...

the one thing that has come about because of all the talk about the ports that has really interested me is how much of our country isn't run by our country.

everything from water treatment plants to the ports is run by overseas companies.

I know what you mean. call up a credit card company for help and you're talking to people in india :roll: . the whole reason we do it is for conveniance (sp?) and then americans have the nuts to complain about it. I hear people bitching everyday about all the mexicans taking jobs around here. Guess what? they actually want to work! Any american could have their job, but we feel we're "above" working those jobs. We, as a collective nation, do not want to work. we want everything for nothing. thats why we sell off our companies to other countries. We've grown too accustomed to being on the top of the food chain and not really having to go out of our way to be content. so what happens when things get tough? sell out!

sorry for the rant, but sometimes it pisses me off how lazy and apathetic Americans are.
