It doesn't mean squat if they don't win the SuperBowl. End of discussion.

jimmyboy8301 01-18-2009 09:17 PM

it doesn't mean anything for EITHER team

JL8Jeff 01-18-2009 09:26 PM

The Giants, Cowboys and Eagles are all gonna be sitting in their recliners watching the SuperBowl so it doesn't matter who beat who at this point. They all choked. There was no real strong team this year in the NFL so now the underdog has a chance just like the Giants did last year. Hopefully it's a good game and not a blowout.

So for every team out there except the Super Bowl winner nothing that happened during the season means anything?

I don't hear anyone talk about the Patriots having a great 18-1 season last year, do you?

7998 01-19-2009 07:12 AM

The seasons over now, for all of us. Atco is opening this week so FTW!!. Now we can get back to being one big happy F-body family.

Bad example...you're talking about an undefeated team who was also a dynasty.

So if the Cardinals for example, a horrible team for years, or the Lions...and downright pathetic organization were to come up one win short of winning the 'bowl after years of cellar dwelling their season would a failure since they didn't win it all?

Wow...talk about not seeing big picture lol

I don't disagree with what you're saying. It is an accomplishment for a team like the Cardinals to make it to the Super Bowl considering their history. But regardless if you are a dynasty or a Cinderella team, if you make it to the Super Bowl and lose it pretty much trumps what you did during the year.

Maybe a better example are the Cincinnati Bengals. They finished 4-11 in the '87 season, then went 12-4 in '88 and made it to the Super Bowl and lost. Sure it was a huge accomplishment to go from such a losing season to make it to the Super Bowl the next season. But who talks about them? No one. My point is winning the Super Bowl means everything. I'm sure for a team like the Cardinals, getting there just isn't enough.

You have to win the championship no matter what sport. The way teams change from season to season nowadays saying you came in second place is meaningless. Yeah, it was a good season but that's not gonna win you a championship.

I was just sick of hearing all the eagles fans say how great they were because they beat the giants. Different year, different players different situation. Yeah the Eagles knocked out the giants but with a little humility maybe they would have gotten my respect. Their QB even has no class with picking up the phone connected to the team up in the booth. LOWLIFE move if you ask me.

Then they go and lose the next week to a team that has been awful for years and they don't expect giants fans and others to laugh at them. Karma's a bitch so suck it.

Have a seat with dallas and the giants as two teams NOT going to the superbowl.

What is you guys are always saying want me to call the WHAMBULANCE for ya. If you're gonna dish it out learn how to take it when it happens to you.

mystictealLT1 01-19-2009 06:57 PM

lol you giants people make me laugh but its expected,we rubbed it in your face now its your turn...all in fun :) I just hope dawkins doesnt leave

The ultimate goal is to win it all however I have to ask you this....have you ever played competitive sports on the same team for a few years? This isn't even Eagles related....you can't sit there and say for any team in any sport that goes from a horrible year to almost winning a championship(or coming close to a championship game) isn't happy. That's what I meant by the big picture. You can't say going from worst to first but just missing out on a championship isn't an accomplishment. You can't say that it isn't a building block for years to come. It's not that black and white, when you're building a franchise looking at one single year is not only retarded it's short-sighted and will get you in trouble. Again, I'm just generally speaking for any team in any sport, it's not cut and dry nor black and white.

They had a good year but they choked at a big game, like they are historically known for. Good year but not a great one. You could actually see the fear and uneasy feelings in McNabb's face when the camera was on him during the later part of the game, and IMO his last pass was sloppy and rushed- more than what's normal for a quarterback with the defense closing in.

My comments weren't about the Eagles, I was generally speaking about sports in regards to "If you don't win it all your season doesn't matter".

You know what I find funny? Every time the Eagles or ******* lose they "choke". How about giving credit to the Cardinals who were a better and hotter team. Did ******* have a great game? No, he missed a few passes and wasn't pin point accurate however he brought them back from being damn near 3 TD's down...doesn't that mean anything? He brought them back to give them the lead and the D just couldn't hold it. Hell you could blame Westbrook for being another no-show...you could blame Jim Johnson for not changing up his defensive schemes...it's so easy to sit here and pick apart a game. Regardless of any of that, this isn't the blame game. I'm giving credit to a Cardinals team..they deserve it.

Yeah. They do choke. Because they fight to get far, and work hard to get there with a little luck on the side, and then never close the deal.

it was a great season. ups and downs for many teams. more first place shifts and late season crumbles than I've seen in recent years. this was a FANTASTIC season for the NFL as a whole (except for the lions).

The Eagles had a great run into the post season. The Eagles/Cards game was 25-24 until under 3 minutes of the 4th when warner connected on the little shuttle pass. It was an awesome game. As an Eagles fan I'm a little heartbroken over a few of the non penalty calls late in the game but I'm not gonna be a little girl about it. As for the season going from a tie to the bungles and benching mcnabb in the ravens game to playing for a spot in the superbowl you cannot call it a failure.

Giants had a good year as well. They fell one game short of where we went..hehe although we DID KNOCK YOU OUT....it almost looked as if eli was nursing a hand injury with the lame ducks he was throwing late in the year.

Onto the season and next coming up....

Giants need to sign Plax or a large reciever back.

Tony Romo cant win a big game.

Detroit will ruin another young number 1 draft pick.

Rivers/Cutlet (hehe) will be a great rivalry in the next few years.

49ers might actually be a contender next year.

Are the dolphins a fluke?

Can Warner win another Super Bowl and solidify his place in the HoF?

Will ESPN continue to overrate the Redskins every year?

Joe Buck sucks.

that is all
