Do you have any idea how long it takes to stop from 114 mph?

Are you for real? The cop is trolling him? In a lot of other states he would have been arrested on the spot! I'm surprised he wasn't.

PS, it's reckless not wreckless.

Are you serious with that first comment. I'm pretty sure he got wreckless because he was being wreckless. He's lucky he didnt end up in the back of the cruiser and the car getting towed

WayFast84 12-15-2011 05:09 PM

Wow, all of you need to relax, 114 isn't THAT bad especially when unnamed members her admitted to getting pulled over at 140, going 170(with gps recognition) and people admitting to running. The man already knows he made a mistake don't crucify him...

114 isnt bad?

Fbody brakes are horrid, and have horrible brake fade, and furthermore stock Fbodies suck at high speed swerving.

What are you on and send me some.

HAHAHAHA SAME! Very rarely did a cop come back within a few minutes and have a ticket. I think sometimes they start filling it out, come up to your door to collect the info, and then fill in the blanks and come back with a ticket

Yes, 5 mph over posted speed limit equates to 114 in a 65.

You and your logic. Impeccable as always.

69BirdX 12-15-2011 08:47 PM

I'm not attacking the Op. Just attacking the comment about it not being wreckless. It's absolutely positively wreckless.

Combine the condition of the road and the skill level of the driver in this situation (of us all in this case, this is not a bash) and it's easily reckless driving. Careless is making a mistake because you are dumb or not thinking. Reckless is doing something dangerous on purpose.

WRECKLESS is not getting in to a wreck. So yes, this was wreckless in that he did not crash.

I don't disagree with the op being wrong and dangerous. I don't disagree with the tickets(except the bs tag,and rearview).

uhaul sets that as a limit cause their trailers are usually in poor conidition and dont want any blame for wreck caused by that or a blow out. if you ever get a trailer with the tires looking shady, refuse it

btw 114 is never ok, but im sure most of us have pulled away from a stop sign once or twice, did about 50 in a 25, hell back home there is a school speed limit sign that reads 15mph, well at 2am there is no kids and when i was younger and dumber i use to float up that road doing 45

Truck was and is overkill for towing a light fbod on a dual axle trailer. Was not issue with braking so, not sure what your point is here. Furthermore, that was posted after I had dropped the car off at home and went to return an EMPTY two axle trailer behind a friggen 12,000lb tow capacity truck. Your point is invalid and you look silly.

Rather than stay behind someone going well below the speed limit they were passed as to not tailgate them and that was that.

Continue to grasp at straws using me as your only argument that 114mph in an fbod is safe.

truck has brakes, trailer has brakes.... probably stops faster from 70 than the stockish f-body would have from 114.

gain some experience towing, then comment on how to tow

When you are going SO fast that the posted speeding fines/offenses dont cover the excess speed you are traveling you are, in fact, being RECKLESS. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, TRICKED BY THE JUDGE, LOSS OF LICENSE FOR 60 DAYS!

What is wrong with your brain that you can not comprehend that excess SPEED is not safe no matter where you are or how the car was built? I remember you didnt comprehend this years ago and I had a problem then. No matter what you do to the car or how it is "built" going fast is DANGEROUS. Just ask Dale Earnhardt. NASCAR car is built in to mitigate accidents/crashes damage at speed but he still died. This is a relatively controlled environment, nothing like driving on the street where there could be any number of things that could happen unforeseen.

You and others around you can still get hurt when you dont follow the posted speed limits regardless of what you think the car can do.

All it takes is a blow out or other mishap to send a car into the grass median, where stopping at 100+ is impossible. Until you land in the the lanes and kill someone coming head on. That is the reason why they are now installing guardrails in medians on the big highways all over.

For the most part, yeah, we've all done dumb things, no one is a saint, and we all know it was reckless. Even the OP acknowledges that.

LTb1ow 12-16-2011 11:43 AM

Has any one suggested running to mexico yet? If not, do that.

I think what he meant is that it's "safer" to travel that fast in a LS1 Fbody than...say maybe a Hyundai Elantra? I don't know...that's what I'm thinking he meant.

an elantra has more air bags... so is it?

Frosty 12-16-2011 12:08 PM

No idea, don't care lol.

I think he meant from a handling standpoint and car's performance standpoint. I guess he'll have to clarify. I'm not defending his point of view.

There is no defence for his point of view but I'd like to see him step on his dic..I mean, try!
