Watching the release video now. 350hp, carbon fiber hood and roof, 7sp manual trans.

band77one 01-13-2013 06:25 PM

450hp right?

amargari 01-13-2013 06:28 PM

Sorry, I mistyped yes 450hp

coolmanvette75 01-13-2013 06:37 PM

Wow that red/black in the unveil car looked sick. Def can't wait to see/drive one in person...

atleast its still a targa top... carbon fiber targa top on that car, no more clear?

Tru2Chevy 01-13-2013 07:12 PM

450/450 + 7spd manual....nice

IMO it looks good from the front, great from the side, and like crap from the back. Can't possibly imagine who thought it was a good idea to put 4 year old tail lights on the all-new awesome flagship car. I certainly didn't expect 4 perfectly round tail lights or even something too similar looking to the C6 tails, but I really hoped that the lights would be much different than all the renders we have seen.

Hood and roof are CF.

Did GM buy Lotus again, or am I missing something here. Not sure why they unveiled an Evora, yet they keep saying Corvette.

Blackbirdws6 01-13-2013 07:24 PM

Really like the car except for the rear. I was hoping real shots would make it look better from the back. The performance should be outstanding. It's prob good I don't drive one lol.

Jersey Mike 01-13-2013 07:31 PM

It's the rear for me as well, but I'm sure in black paint, it will look more subtle.

I actually think it looks a little more bearable in the red....even with the surrounds the tail lights don't stick out as much.

Black might tone down the entire back more though.

I came back in here to say this, but it could just be because the picture in red that I saw was not shot directly from the back and was at an angle where I could see the rear and sides.

MyFirstZ 01-13-2013 09:12 PM

I like it a lot.

can't wait to judge it in person.

you can see where they went from the c5 into the c6 but not so much into the c7

regardless I'm liking it. can't wait to see the z06 and zr1 if they make it to them

Back from where?

My FB news feed is all clogged up with pics of this... Do I care? Not really - but it beats every football post that all my relatives are going nuts over.

Teds89IROC 01-13-2013 09:59 PM

hmm not sure how I feel about it overall. The only aspect that makes me question is the back. The drivetrain sounds pretty sweet though, as well as the front appearance.

Going by the great scale of NJFBOA, should be a huge hit. Looks great in person. Rear is busy, but functional. Lots of big tech in the car that you guys are going to love.

EWWWW. That ass. Who the hell hires GM designers?! It's like everyone that was part of good cars was let go and kept the people behind the Aztec. Judging by this hyped up, all new "Corvette" I'll be wasting my time waiting to see what the next gen Camaro even looks like before buying a new car.

Funny you mention the Aztec. Tom Peters designed that, the C6, and the C7. He is charge of all GM performance design.

Here are some live shots.

Last time I checked, there isn't a shortage of 50+ year olds going through mid life crisis, so looks like there is still a market profitable enough to keep the Corvette in production.

LTb1ow 01-14-2013 07:22 AM

Al, if i go trade in my truck and get one, will my opinion that its an ugly POS be held to higher standard or are you just so far up in the clouds nothing we say/comment will mean anything?

We want all the overdrives.

JerzLT1 01-14-2013 07:51 AM

Looks like a Genesis and a GTR mixed, but I'd drive the **** out of that car. Ill take my $60k+ and put it into a car to go way faster though

My guess is a close ration 5 speed to 1:1 and then two overdrives
