mtg6486 04-05-2006 06:32 PM

what kind of helmet do u need 2 race like a motorcycle helmet?

95formula 04-05-2006 07:23 PM

"Helmets (Snell 95 or better) are required" - Islands Site

The Snell specs are updated every 5 years, so the newest helmets carry "SA95" or "M95" ratings. A helmets must have a Nomex liner and are, therefore, more fire-resistant than M helmets.

In order to get the Snell rating, both types of helmets must pass a series of identical impact tests. In addition, the SA helmets must pass a test designed to simulate impact with a rollbar.

Also, the "SA" standard allows a minimum eyeport size that's smaller than the minimum allowed by the "M" standard.

Wouldn't the newest ones be rated SA05 and M05? The '95 ones are the oldest ones allowed....

Hes doing the hockeystripes / pinstripe removal free -o- charge :-D And it depends where the paint is. The bottom half of both doors are getting redone along with a piece of the upper passenger door. If theres no fresh paint in the way of putting the stripes on, then they go on. If there is, then i gotta wait a month for the solvent releasing process to finalize.

no, DOT is only approved for street use, and to my knowledge is not approved for any type of racing.

Helmets have to be Snell 95, 2000, or if they came out with an 05 (i havent seen one yet)
