I need some help here

This dude I work with has this little 1992 honda with a v-tech or w/e engine. he honestly thinks he could totally kill my trans am. I have a 1980 pace car but with a 350. i need an honest opinion to shut this ricer up. he says he is making 260 hp. i think i got about 300

j0n 12-19-2006 11:07 PM

is it all one color? and if so is that color primer?

Rafterman 12-19-2006 11:17 PM

???

Mike 12-19-2006 11:44 PM

if you have a stockish 1980 350, he probably has a shot.....then again he could be a moron...only one way to find out

BonzoHansen 12-20-2006 08:31 AM

What kind of Honda, and what transmission? Those 4cyl autos are dogs. But my old 93 Civic EX had a stick, was pretty light and had 4.10 gears with a high 1st gear. It took me lots of calling to get a new one when I broke it - the regular ones got different gearing. I had zero problems running against my pals's 305 3rd gen.

GP99GT 12-20-2006 09:38 AM

if he DOES have 260hp, expect to lose.

Fixed. That would be a big if, since a 92 Honda 4cyl was probably like 135 new.

GP99GT 12-20-2006 02:08 PM

and i dont think they had vtec in 92...so....its got a motor swap...and who knows what was done

there was a guy on anti-rice.com a few years ago, he had a 92 integra 4 door, only visible mods were intake/header/exhaust...ran 12.7. actually, he lives in NJ, me and alex talked to him a couple years ago at e-town...though the car was stolen about a month before we met him, chopped up, found a few weeks later in pieces.

V 12-20-2006 02:35 PM

..i dont do imports.. :shifty:

Mike 12-20-2006 02:37 PM

they had sohc vtec motors back then

00sierra 12-20-2006 03:43 PM

If he swaped in a dohc vtec they can run 13s easily, but theres alot of all motor guys running 11s and 12s, all depends what he has done. Most of them just have the bolt in swaps with exhaust and ****, but ya never know. I'm good friends with a kid who had an 11 sec hatch that was 3 or 4 different colors, its now all one color and running 10.4s just shy of 700whp.

If he really is making 260, then he deffinitly has some **** done to his car and will beat you

DieselKickYoAss4Sure 12-20-2006 04:34 PM

If he isnt lyin i say he def has you on the top end but there is only one way to find out

thats an acomplishment.....

ChickenLittle 12-20-2006 05:52 PM

the Prelude w/VTEC was about the only 'fast' Honda they had back then...with a good driver, they could crack 14.99s...other than that, mid to low 15s...

that TA...stock? he may have a shot IF he has THAT Honda and it's in tip-top shape...

ChickenLittle 12-20-2006 05:53 PM

wait...you say you have about 300hp? i guess it's not stock then, lol...you should take him...

Mike 12-20-2006 05:55 PM

hes also talking about a not stock honda motor if its making 260, and with the honda being lighter (most likely) its not so clear cut...

but since he hasnt posted any information on his car, or the other one other than pillowcase dyno numbers /thread untill we get results.

yeah, i was just re-reading all of the post and realizing he said 260 horse in a Honda...

sheit, that's a recipe for a whoopin if he isn't packin heat.

there isn't enough info on either car to render any sort of valid opinion, sorry, i hafta take back what i said, lol

Batman 12-20-2006 08:04 PM

I think you can take him from a stop (assuming he uses street tires) but he would lay ahurtin on you from a roll.

Rafterman 12-20-2006 09:58 PM

Heres the deal. Hes says he has 260 in his car with the front wheel drive. He is a crappy driver and he has **** tires with an even ****tier exhast. He can't decide which one of his cars he wants to keep casue he is always tradin. he claims to be pulling off 12 or 13's on the track while my car does about high 10's to low 11's. now i haven't seen his car in action (I seen it idiling)but i sounds completely riced ( including the classic "NOS" sticker, yet, you guessed it, he has none.) My car has 300 HP with the 350 engine then a 150 nitrous pack. so over all 450. I got a sweet exhast system and eagle GT tires. sorry for not mentioning it before. I also have rear wheel drive.maybe this will help

hate to break it to you, but you dont have a 10second car. IF you did, no street driven civic would worry you. An ls1 car with 325 and a 150 shot is maybe mid 11's. Plus without drag radials and your eagle GT tires, i highly doubt you could put that "450" hp to any decent use and run anything better than a mid 12.

Rafterman 12-20-2006 10:54 PM

i don't use the same tires i drag with as normal drive to work tires. i have drag radials but i'm saying when i race this guy i won't be using them. as far as a civic worring me, I just asked the question what would win.

Squirrel 12-20-2006 11:10 PM

wait...so what kind of times do you actually run?..a 260whp civic can be deep in the 11's

V 12-20-2006 11:17 PM

...yea.. i'm throwing down the BS card on this one...

...went from "think i got 300hp" to "450rwhp", turbo dual exhast, nitrous pack, etc... sorry, but dont come in here thinking we are a bunch of gullible morons, its insulting. Oh, and being 16 years old is a nice touch too.

Rafterman 12-21-2006 09:40 AM

i guess since your older means you know SOOO much more about cars than i do huh? like i said. the thing i said was when i race him i am going to have 300 hp. im not using nitrous since he has none and we agreed to have non. then you told me i could not run 10s or 11s so then i gave you the way i drag. so instead of trying to rip my story to shreads, why not just go with what you see im saying and try to help. you and I both have nothing to prove. i just asked for help. its not like i came in here saying i could beat your car did i? did i say i could beat anyone in here? no, i just wanted an opinion. when i race him i'm going to have eagle GT, turbo exhast, and 300 to the wheels. and he says he has 260 to the wheels with street wheels. now, do you know the answer or what. thats all i want to know:drool:

Tru2Chevy 12-21-2006 09:49 AM

Can you give us details on the setup of your car? To just say that you have 300 hp to the wheels and you spray a 150 shot and run 10s is a very general statement, and kinda far-fetched (though not necessarily impossible). Does the car have any passes with this 300 hp motor and no spray? What ET and MPH did it run?

Your profile says that you are 16 and that you live in NJ, which means that you don't have a license, and therefor haven't raced at any of the 3 dragstrips in this state (and most likely not any other state either). Did someone else race the car for you?

I'm not trying to start any trouble, just trying to get you to explain yourself better so that others won't jump on your back thinking that you are lying.
