PICK FOUR!!!
OK, if you could hang out with any four REAL, LIVING people, one at a time, for a whole day, who would you pick, and why? Here's my four:
1. Jesse James [the chopper dude]. I still miss MONSTER GARAGE, and Jesse is still one of my heroes. I'd love to hang with him and talk cars, cycles, guns, fabrication, and machines. Hopefully he'd take me cruising in some of his rides. That would be cool...a couple of REAL AMERICAN BAD AZZES hanging out! 2. Roger Penske. I'd love to hang with Roger to talk about his motorsports ventures [including AMC], having Mark Donohue as his driver, and his business sense. I'd try my dayumest to get him to run for president, too! And since he is on my list of peeps I want to get an autograph from, I'd be able to git r done! 3. Robert Plant. I'd wanna know what it's like being the voice behind the GREATEST band ever! And we'd def have to do some karaoke! 4. Kasey Cuban. 3 reasons I wanna hang with Kasey Cuban: He's a fidget, he's a Mexican, and he's MEMBER OF THE YEAR! 'NUFF SAID!!! |
1. Toby Keith. Awesome singer/songwriter. Love to hang out and jam with him.
2. Brad Paisley. Awesome singer/songwriter and guitarist. Same reason. 3. Tony Stewart. Favorite NASCAR driver. Say what you want about him, but he can drive the heel out of a racecar. Naturally, I'd like a turn at the wheel. 4. Chip Foose. I love cars. I love building and fabbing, even though I'm not really good at it. He's the most down to earth guy I've seen or read about when it comes to building sweet rides. |
1.) Bill Kazmaier- I'd love to pick his brain about strength training
2.) Tony Stewart- For reasons mentioned above 3.) Arnold- For all kinds of reasons leading from his bodybuilding career through to success planning 4.) Bobby Flay- The man knows his way around a grill, and I'm sure I could pick up some good tips from him. Great question, Bob. This should spark some good discussion  |
1) David Gilmour - The voice and strings behind post-Waters Pink Floyd. Picking up guitar tips is the obvious choice, but also getting what -wasn't- discussed in Nick Mason's book about the band and the departure of Roger Waters would be fascinating.
2) George Bush Sr. - From Navy Pilot to CIA director, Vice Prez and Prez, the guy has done so much in his life, met so many worldly people, and accomplished some great things that a few hours of storytelling would probably be life changing. 3) Pope Benedict XVI - I'm not religious, but I am curious. He has a tall order of making religion (Catholicism specifically) attractive to today's youth. Aside from speaking out on wordly topics, what is his plan to capture the attention span of today's kids to reinforce the moral ideals of Christianity? 4) His Majesty King Abdullah II, King of Jordan - How the $#@! does he manage to stay in the relative good graces of the arab AND western populations? Reading his background and following some of his initiatives is incredible, considering the stereotypical view westerners have of arabic people. Spending the day seeing the world through his eyes would be fascinating. |
1. Dale Earnhardt Jr. just to talk about racing and about his DAD
2. Cal Ripken Jr. ask him how he managed to train for so long and his amazing attitude towards other people especially in the sports world. 3. Donald Trump to pick his brain on how to deal with people and make the deals that would help with my own money problems. 4. Mike Rowe(from the Discovery Channel "Dirty Jobs")just because he has no fear to take on ANY job, on land/sea/ or air offered to him. I saw him climb the cables on the Mackinawe Bridge(like 200 feet above the water)and get to the top to change a light bulb. Now that took BALLS. |

I think outa all the guys on my list that Kasey Cuban would be the hardest guy to hang with! He's busy in THREES: Fidget stuff, Mexican stuff, and MEMBER OF THE YEAR! stuff!

1) The wife - cause I'm married to her ;)
2) Boondaddy - the legend 3) Bruce Lee - just plain bad ass 4) Whoever created the dodge neon |

i'm not getting into a whole religious discussion, but then technically you can't say god... not living/person |
Chip Foose: Too many sweet vehicles and would love to pick up a few cools tips and maybe some rides.
Charlie Murphy: Has to have some funny stories and is probably a person to always get into something. Jay Leno: Again, huge car guy that would not be afraid to show me around his collection of awesome vehicles. My Dad: Yea yea tear tear. I just always have a damn good time with my pop and we don't get to hang much these days anymore. -Brian |
This all assumes they'd be themselves & honest.
John Paul Jones - was he really going to leave Zep in the mid 70s? What was it like to be jerked around by your old band mates? What really happened on the road in the old days? George Carlin - just because. BB King - because John Lee Hooker is dead. Just tell me everything about the old days, and play Lucille for me. :) Derek Jeter - just to watch the hot girls he casts off, LOL. (Or maybe Tony Gwynn, just to talk baseball all day) I'll think of 50 others later. |

For those with INCREDIBLY good taste who chose ubg as someone they want to hang with, well, there are a few easy ways to do it coming up: Sat, Feb 23 is the monthly ubg meet @ New Brunswick Fudds, and there is an open invite to join ubg for dinner in Morrisville Pa on a weeknight!

3 of my 4 are people I've already met and hung out with at some time or another, but I'd really like to get to spend a whole day instead of just an hour or so..
1. Don Garlits: 'Nuff said really. The man is a legend. I'd like to talk to him about his initiative to change the world of drag racing. I'd also like to talk to him about my grandfather. Got to talk to hang out with him for like an hr or so once, but I was pretty young. 2. Tom Compton: The current Pres. of NHRA. I'd like to spend a day with him and pick his brain on what happens on a day to day basis. And see how he got to the top. I hung out with him back in December, it was fun, but we were all pretty well sloshed. I'd try and do it sober next time. 3. Lutz. Probably just to slap him in the face and ask wtf are you doing? and why? I'd love to hear the why. 4. My long-lost brother, Big Al. Because I miss him :( |

Bob Lutz? Aww sis, I miss ya too. When you are done playing with lasers and osama kittens, maybe we could hang out one day? Or even if you stopped by your AIM every once and a while... OUTSIDE of Melissa and some other friends, people Id like to meet. 1: Bob Lutz. Id like to just talk to him about his life. The Marines, working at several automotive buisness and how that has put a different perspective on his outlook at GM compared to boring Detroit outlook. 2: Bill Clinton. The man is a fantastic speaker, and I would like to hear his views about the country and about the world. He is a bright man and I think that it would be awesome to talk to him. 3: FDR. Not the bridge, but the man himself. Id like to talk to him about his strenghts and how he overcame such immense handicap to lead this country into the biggest war this world has ever seen, on top of watching this country rise to power in just 4 years. Id like to talk to him about the world today, and what he thinks. 4: Warren Buffet. Id like to talk to him and leach off his thoughts of business. Id like to understand his thoughts and understandings of the economy and how he can pick out the diamonds in the rough. Id like to have that kind of knowlage and understanding of the business world. |
Here is my list:
1) Jeff Gordon- I always thought he was an awesome race car driver, despite what others think about him or NASCAR. I would talk to him about his life in racing, how it felt to bump with greats like Dale, Sr., Rusty, etc. And maybe I would be able to take the #24 around the track once or twice. 2) Mike Ditka- I am a HUGE football guy, and I always loved the way that Ditka coached. I would talked to him about he had the greatest team in NFL history, the '85-86 Bears. I would talk about his defense schemes he used ,since I am a defense guy, and how his defense first attitude led to such an amazing season. Plus it would be cool to eat at his restaurant with him. 3) Don Mattingly- He was the Yankee I looked up to most when I was growing up playing in Little League. I played first base and tried to mimic him in everyway, even though I was a righty. We would talk about his favorite moment in his career and if he thinks the state of baseball today is in shambles or not. Plus, a little batting and fielding practice with him would be nice. 4) Michael Buble- I love the way he sings, and he is kind of like the Frank Sinatra of our generation. And he sounds like he was made to be in the rat pack if he was around during that time. And I am curious to see the amount of panties thrown at him in one show. |
