Got rear ended leaving the car show

It was a great day. I went to the Cops and Rodders show had a good time. There was alot of great cars and met a few of our members. I went back to the Nopi show after and I took 3rd place in my Sport Coupe class. Shortly after leaving the park as I was stopped at a red light I got rear ended pretty hard by a 17 year old girl not paying attention to stopped cars. I just cant seem to win. Everytime I am taking her out my girl is getting hit!!!!! WTF! Tunrs oput that her parents own Edison Collision on Rt 1 and want the cahnce to fix it. What do you guys think?

maroman88 05-05-2008 08:52 AM

that blows!

if its a reputable place id say go for it, but look into it first, if its been there a long time see what others have to say

bad64chevelle 05-05-2008 09:12 AM

Make sure you go through your insurance and take it to whatever shop you want to. They have no say in where it should be taken, and who says they wont just do a quickie job to shut you up? Take lots of pics and get the insurance involved. Thats what its for.

qwikz28 05-05-2008 09:18 AM

who did your flame job?

JL8Jeff 05-05-2008 09:39 AM

That suks. Now I know why I only put 7500 miles a year on my car. It's not worth the risk to drive all over this state full of crazy drivers that don't pay attention. Plus gas is getting too expensive. Definitely keep your insurance company involved regardless of who ends up fixing it.

BonzoHansen 05-05-2008 10:07 AM

that sucks AJ. Your car is getting repainted 5' at a time.

Jersey_TA 05-05-2008 10:08 AM

Awww man that SUCKS

firebirdcrazy 05-05-2008 10:23 AM

I cant get over it. I was stopped for at least 5 seconds or more before being rearended so it wasnt even a sudden thing. I think it was a pretty big deal to take 3rd place in a show like Nopi and it got ruined by getting hit. I am going to talk with the parents again today or tomorrow and see whats going to be done. Replacement of the rear bumper is already one, and probably the exhaust tips. The bumper never got pushed in. The hatch seemed to open and close fine. And the quarters werent touched or buckled. It shouldnt be to hard to fix. It is convienent that there shop is down the block from me. And will cover me a rental though I dont really need it. I will see what they can do if its not to my liking it will be fixed at my normal shop.

Was her t-shirt at least wet?

BonzoHansen 05-05-2008 10:45 AM

Go to your normal shop. At least get them to look at it & give their $0.02

firebirdcrazy 05-05-2008 11:19 AM

I got some damn good pictures of a few Nopi chicks with my ride, and a bunch of other models with my ride too. The moment I got these girls in bikinis at my car every friggen guy started hounding us like dogs. Almost couldnt get my pictures taken. Geez

jims69camaro 05-05-2008 02:12 PM

yeah, girls in bikinis definitely bring out the :leghump:

talk it over with your shop. get an estimate, if nothing else, from your shop and at least two others. get everything in writing. i mean it, everything. take their word at nothing, because if it's not in writing, then they don't have to do it. since they're in the business, they know little things like this and that, and it might save them time and expense, but it might cost you now or down the road.

definitely get your insurance involved. it doesn't matter, since it was obviously her fault, but your insurance is there for YOU, not her, and they will help YOU. so keep them in the loop - they also do this kind of stuff everyday, and could give you a heads up if things don't look or sound right.

good luck, man. it seems like those cars that have the wildest paint jobs, the ones you can't just hit with a touch-up brush and buff it, are the ones that get hit. if it is indeed non-structural like you say, then they should be able to bang it out in a day or two, depending on parts availability. a week, tops.

Go through insurance and everything. If her parents half ass it, what recourse will you have without a police report ans insurance claim?

firebirdcrazy 05-05-2008 02:53 PM

I definately coverd myself with a police report. Its funny when I called for them someone else had already called 911. I was talking with the Officer and he told me that he had come on duty at 3 pm and had 5 break ins at Raceway park mind you the accident happened around 645 pm. Shows what kind of security etown has. I never once left my ride open when I wasnt there. Bunch of thieves.

GP99GT 05-05-2008 05:28 PM

was she hot at least?

transamkid 05-05-2008 05:32 PM

she was 17 if anyone read, lol

JerzyIroc 05-05-2008 06:28 PM

lol i took a few pics with a asian chick on your car. i agree with the others. get ur insurance involved. tell them that her parents own a body shop and is willin to do the work and take it from there. good job on the 3rd place btw :-D im not suprised by the amount of break ins. look at how many hondas were there. a honda owner would punch their grandmother off her wheelchair and steal it if it had vtec.

DaSkinnyGuy 05-05-2008 07:59 PM

Man that does blow, but dont take it to wrong at least the car isnt as bad as what I have heard from some guy, I meet a guy at chatterbox, he had 1989 Firebird formula, it as 1 of 40 I believe, he had just left a englishtown car show with a 1st place trophy for best car. His car got totaled on the way home by an old lady that hit him dead stopped at 40-50mph

Knipps 05-06-2008 12:22 AM

Like stated earlier, get EVERYTHING in writing & make sure to cover your ass any way possible..

firebirdcrazy 05-08-2008 08:02 AM

Car is going in today to the shop. Got a written statement for them to sign to cover my butt and a copy of the police report so lets see what happens. I am taking advantage and getting a few things taken cared of. And getting a rental on there dime in which I am getting a van or pick up to move into my new house in Edison so it works out lol.

Frosty 05-08-2008 08:24 AM

Is it going to their shop or a shop of your choice?

Sorry never answered you. My buddy kenny from Ken Kustoms in Elizabeth nj. He puts on a car show every year in Elizabeth and will be doing it again at the portuguese club in Elizabeth this year in June I think.

firebirdcrazy 05-08-2008 09:04 AM

Its there shop the girls parents own it. I am giving them a chance since its pretty much just a rear bumper and exhaust tips. And will be getting other stuff done which other wise I would have to pay for and now I dont.
