P/S mirror fell off while on 287 today

Yep. I was in the passenger seat, letting my younger brother get some more experience behind the wheel when, and told him, "Everything clear on the passenger side? Check your mirror before you get over." And just as I spoke those words, I watched the passenger side mirror drop.

Luckily, the cord held it attached to the car, but the metal piece that secures the headlight to the car is broken.

I'm in Oakland (Bergen County) and need a P/S mirror, do any northern members have one that I can buy off of you? I need it ASAP

madness410 07-06-2009 03:08 PM

lmfao..dam GM should use better glue next time hahah

SamhainZ28 07-06-2009 03:21 PM

This happened to both trans ams my brother has had, if that metal bracket is broken, you're going to have to find a new one before you can put the mirror on correctly.

BonzoHansen 07-06-2009 03:22 PM

I have one off a 99 Z28, I do not know if they are the same.

The T/As have a decorative gap in them, I believe.

It's not glue, or GMs fault. I think someone hit it a while ago (with their body or something?)--over time, the bracket finally gave. I don't see it as GM's fault as much as my own & the previous owners for not replacing it sooner. (I noticed it wobbling above 85mph).

Yep, the metal bracket is broken. I took the whole assembly off the car & I think I may be able to get it back together with some JB Weld...

Technically you did. The pic you sent me was quite useless, lol.

And lol you tried JB weld and expected it to hold.

FParts on ebay/in Bristol PA had a stack of f-body mirrors, maybe call them.

I've been waiting on a forum member who PM'ed me.. but I haven't heard back from him still. Guess I'll check out FParts.

I've been driving around without a p/s mirror. ...Parallel parking is dicey, to say the least.
