PS3 or Xbox 360
 

I'm not really that big into video games, but I think it's time I get with the ages and buy a new console. I'm leaning towards the PS3 because I've had sony gaming consoles all my life and am used to the controller layout, also the free online gaming and blue-ray is a plus. What's your opinions?

i like xbox but the only downside is i get about a year out of my xbox then i get RROD. i send it out and get it back with some free stuff. i like xbox live better than ps3's live. i think xbox has better games out that you can't get with ps3 but that's just my thoughts.

Xbox has a better selection of games IMO. plus most people have it so finding friends to play live with is easy

true....but forza=GT5 with GT5 taking the slight advantage from what I've been reading.

hows gt5 taking the edge from forza when its not even scheduled to come out for another year after being pushed further and further back. all sony gives their customers is broken promises and GT-Prolong ''demo''




plus microsoft fully covers xboxes when they break....sony wants like 150 bucks when they get the yellow light of death.


3 of my friends have ps3's and they all get scared when it wants to update cause either 1 of the 3 usually happens....

1. freezes 90 percent done
2. takes 5 hours to update
3. new update craps out the ps3


oh and...theres a reason ps3's online is free....cause no one in their right mind would pay for it. xbox live is ftw

My vote is for Microsoft's console. Bigger selection of games, easier navigation in dashboard and online (and WAY less loading screens/times), and more people have it, which makes the online play that much better.

If you're going to go with the PS3, PLEASE don't let your deciding factor be, "well, it plays blu-ray media..." Stop it! It's cliché. Enough said. :lol:

if all the xbox fan boys are done proclaiming their eternal love to microsoft? both systems are great. i have both. and i hardly use my xbox anymore because i think the ps3 has better graphics. both menu screens are easy to navigate and online gaming is online gaming no matter where you do it. i've had my ps3 for about 2 years and have had no problems with it updating, nor freezing. then again i have the slightly older model that is backwards compatible so maybe it's a little better hardware wise? idk. but you can't lose in getting either system really. both systems have exclusive games such as ps3 has uncharted, gran turismo and the god of war titles. xbox has the halo franchise, forza, fable, etc etc and so on. the advantage ps3 has is the blu ray player in my opinion.

I was a Playstation kid, but I'm getting XBOX for Christmas. PS3 doesn't seem to have as many games, GT5 MIGHT come out spring at this rate. And you can't play all your old stuff, which IMO is the pretty much the entire point of buying something in the same line.

That said, I'm not quite a gamer, considering I play maybe an hour or two a week.

Sounds like I'll be going to the mall later for a xbox 360. Forza have any camaros in it?

What is the extent of the online? WEb browser...tv shows, movies? Once I pay for live..what's included that's free?

Sounds like you have already decided but my vote goes for the PS3. The xbox is nice but the reliabilty issues are something I simply do not not want to deal with. There are good games on both consoles and if you are really into online gaming, xbox is prob better. It sounds like you are buying a new system to simply update yourself but still a casual gamer. I think the PS3 would be a better choice for you. If you are buying a console for one game ala Forza....you are making a very shortsighted decision.

I enjoy my PS3 and like that I am not paying monthly for online play. I've never had an issue playing a game online. Plus with the PS3, you get a pretty sick blu-ray player. I personally hate the xbox controller but that's personal taste.

Good luck whichever you choose.

this pretty much sums up the decision

if you want to play online with your friends, buy an xbox
if you want to do anything else, buy a ps3


ps3 has better exclusive games also, + blu ray player is always nice

bought a 360, but did not open it yet. I didn't realize that none of the xbox's come with wifi built in and that it costs $100 to add that option. I'm going to keep the xbox for a few days(not open it) and mess around with my friends 360's for a few days and see how long it takes to get used to the controller layout. I think I'll be returning the 360 and getting a PS3. Forza 3 does seem very nice though. Idk, still gotta make up my mind.

gt5 is coming out this spring btw, it better be better than forza 3 lol

$100 new, I've bought 2 used ones for 50 and 25 each. Just something to keep in mind.

Pick one that has the most games that YOU like. I picked PS3.

i'm not a hardcore gamer but i love ps3. just plug it in and it's ready to go. it's easy to use and i have no problem with lack of games. i have call of duty, that's all i need.

I dont do any of the online stuff, like u im not a avid gamer and dont play enough...Ive played all the GT games and like previously mentioned GT5 was supposed to come out like a year ago...and its still not out.....I didn't like Forza 2 but 3 is the best racing game I ever played....Once u get into it its easy to win money and you really dont have to but any cars you win em all...still havent got a new ZR1 yet...I only play when I got free time and right now i have a ton of money and basically any car I would want fully modded :nod:...Microsoft hit the nail on the head w/ this game.
