You better get out of business now. You should also be embarrassed.

Fast92RS 03-16-2015 06:24 PM

Thank you for the kind words. People use crowd funding sites for tons of things. Someone I knew used a similar site to get the money he needed to start his hot dog stand. I thought I'd sign and see what happens. If I got something that would be great if not then so be it. The site doesn't cost anything to sign up.

It's just as easy to not post anything at all...

Did you read it? Someone should tell the guy. Hard work pays off but let me ask for $$. I guess it's the world we live in today. Everyone wants things handed or given to them. Sorry it was offensive and I hope he gets all the money he needs to be successful for free.

GO OBAMA!

transampete 03-16-2015 08:35 PM

Am I missing something here? Isn't those sites reserved for charity?

Fast92RS 03-16-2015 09:04 PM

The site has a bunch of different categories for all sorts things such as business. I guess I'm the ******* for starting it then. I just hate how people judge someone when they don't even know that person. I know what hard work is. I work 3 jobs day and night to provide a better future for my family.

V 03-16-2015 09:49 PM

I was gonna say, the site can be used for just about any reason. There was one with a girl trying to fund a trip to Disneyland(or world). Its completely up to the people who go to the site if they feel it deserves a donation or not.

I don't see anything really wrong with it. It doesn't deceive people into thinking the money is going for something much different such as a surgery or a funeral.
It allows a possible donator to read and make a decision for themselves whether or not they want to throw a buck or two his way. However I can see how in some cases it could be seen as an easy way out, not saying that's the case here.

When I started pricing out my eventual GTA build last summer, I thought I should start a fundraiser page thing and get it paid off that way, but that would have been absurd and in that case would have deserved ridicule.

Fast92RS 03-16-2015 10:07 PM

I can understand people thinking it's an easy way out. I have always worked hard for what I have. I see people all the time using crowd funding sites to jump start a business or some sort if idea. Like I said before I know someone who tried it. My friends said give it a shot you never know. The whole time I'm thinking who the hell is going to donate me money. Since I started this today I've had two people call me lazy so I'm guess this was a bad idea like I originally thought it would be. Thanks for a least taking the time to look.

Originally I thought elle was being unfair till I looked at the Gofundme page and honestly Im in the same boat. A few things stick out.

1. Lack of professionalism

All I see is a lame graphic that looks like it took 4 minutes in microsoft paint with very minimal talent.

2. Lack of business plan

Nowhere do I see any type of comprehensive business plan besides ''i need equipment and dont have the money.'' There are no initiatives for funders to even get discounts on work by your company in the future. It reeks of cash grab.

3. The amount needed.

$2000 isnt a lot of money, especially when you're talking about an investment to take your business to the next level, but when you couple such a small amount needed with the lack of a business plan and very amateur production value, it just looks like a bad investment by someone who can easily take a small loan from a family member or bank but doesnt want to pay back any money.

Thats just my two cents, from a small business owner myself.

grazi 03-17-2015 05:44 AM

When I started my business 13 year ago people would give me money but I would offer my services in return. I wish you were closer to me, I have a couple things I need tunes up. Good luck with your business venture.

I ended the campaign. It was a bad move thank you for opening my eyes. Here is a picture of my ad that will be going out in money mailer at the end of the month.

sweetbmxrider 03-17-2015 07:07 AM

I didn't see your page but I like your flyer. I would try selling it some with a cheaper to repair than replace type phrase somewhere on it. I also see two different numbers on your ad. You should look into google voice. You can have one number that forwards to any or all of your phones, specific times they ring, personalized voicemails that can be transcribed and texted/emailed, and more. Its free to sign up and use too. I chose a number that correlated with my towing business to make it easier to remember. I also have my caller id display my google voice number when a call comes in. That way, I answer my cell appropriately.

Fast92RS 03-17-2015 07:18 AM

Thanks for the info on Google voice. My main number is a magic jack number. I had it call forwarded to my cell phone but I couldn't tell which number was calling so I separated them but I will look into Google today. Also good point on that cheaper to repair than replace. This add is already approved and printing but next month I have another one going out so I can make changes then.

ThoR294 03-17-2015 07:36 AM

Google voice is the way to go. My friend uses it for his photography business and it works really well. I have my own PC/car repair business and I mainly use e-mail, so I personally haven't used it but hear great things.

The ad you just posted is much better, and good call on taking down the gofundme. Running a gofundme while owning a 2013 zl1 camaro doesn't exactly bode well :)

Fast92RS 03-17-2015 07:48 AM

Yeah almost all of my customers have been through email or Facebook messages. Very few have been phone calls.

sweetbmxrider 03-17-2015 08:36 AM

Church bulletins are another good, inexpensive advertising source.

I have one going in the local church/ School that I have done work work.

If you work 3 jobs to provide for a better future for your family, nobody will discourage you trying to start a business.
BUT I personally think it's a bit absurd to ask for handouts while you own a 2013 camaro zl1, and possibly two other camaros according to your profile. If you sincerely thought your business would help your family's future you would rather take out a small loan or sell your toys to fund your business.

qwikz28 03-17-2015 03:22 PM

I know a guy looking for a small engine repairman, but I haven't seen him since the last time I told you that. If you are able to make a basic website, I'd be able to forward it along to some people I know in the landscaping business.

Fast92RS 03-17-2015 04:04 PM

Here is my facbook page https://www.facebook.com/KraeseRepairs. I also have a google plus page.
I haven't done a website yet. I have been looking for someone to do one.
I only have one Camaro I sold all my other ones to buy the ZL1.

lol still you were asking for 2 grand while sporting a $60,000 car in your signature :D yeah that money mailer flyer looks a lot better than your gofundme. Im not sure how many stores or whats near where you are but taking some business cards and talking to some hardware stores/home depot/sears style business to leaving some cards somewhere near the area.

Honestly though I vote for the website as well. You can have them built relatively easy and cheap these days and most people carry smart phones so its no big deal for them to check a website or scan a QR code. people are savvy these days :D

Edit: also you can make a quick commercial for your business to embed on the main page of the website too. something quick, light, fun with some dinky music in the background :D

zraffz 03-17-2015 04:47 PM

Are you doing this from your house or a commercial location? If you are doing this from a commercial location, I'd suggest trying to stock minor items like 2 cycle mix, weedwhacker string, etc to try and lure in local landscapers. I know my brothers biggest issue with the local shop here is the time it takes them to fix his equipment and the bill being higher than the quoted price every time.

Fast92RS 03-17-2015 05:16 PM

This is from home and mobile.
I have been leaving cards where ever I find those boards that businesses put up for cards. The local pizza place let me put a card holder on there counter. I just did a booster for a school next to me. I'm trying to get in contact with raceway park to do some advertising there since they are basically in my back yard. I started going door to door in my neighborhood with little door hangers I had printed up. I also put out a lawn sign in front off my house and got magnetic signs for my truck. Yesterday I started calling local landscapers to see if they need work done, most were not interested but one said they would be interested in repairs. I recently picked up 3 local government accounts for repairs and one private school. I also just got approved to be a VP racing fuel dealer and Amsoil dealer.

sweetbmxrider 03-17-2015 08:04 PM

Sounds like you are putting in the footwork!
