How to determine wheel and tire height?

Ok, so as most of you have probably seen my other post about my wheels rubbing, I have a question about what size rims and tires to get for my car.

How do you determine the overall wheel and tire height? As in, if I have 16x8 with 225/60/16 on there now and want to go to a 18x8 245/40/18, how would I calculate the overall wheel and tire height? I just want to be sure that I am not going to continue to have the rubbing problem, by keeping the same height tire and wheel.

Look past the fact that it's a Miata site.

That's awesome! thanks! so it looks like the 18"s will be shorter, but slightly wider.

your stock wheels are 26.6" tall
your new wheels are 25.7" tall

Cool, so if I get these rims and tires, the car would look something like this. I would have to lower it an inch or so though. What do you think?

18x8 with 4.5" of bs and a 245/40/18 fit perfectly, ran that combo for a few years
